Description

Role Summary:

This position is responsible for the timely preparation and submission of vehicle emission certification documents (including applications, running changes and field fixes) to the appropriate government agencies and the entry of test vehicle emission certification data into government databases. This position also fields technical and regulatory questions from internal and external groups (including questions from government agencies), and acts as a representative of the Volkswagen Group in discussions with government agencies. These tasks require project management skills and a high level of accuracy.

Role Responsibilities:


Emission Certification Submission & Analysis - (70%)

* Prepares, reviews, and edits emission certification applications and submits to appropriate government agencies via electronic means

* Assists in the preparation, review, and edits for running change/field fix documentation and submits to the appropriate government agencies via electronic means

* Monitors the status of the emission certification process to ensure that certification is completed in time to support vehicle market introduction

* Inputs Volkswagen Group vehicle emission test data into government databases

* Assists in analyzing and distributing vehicle emission test data for vehicles that have been tested at government agency test laboratories

* Assists in making arrangements for the shipment and receipt of test vehicles to support groups' activities.

* Supports other EEO regulatory activities as required

Communication and Special Projects - (30%)

* Communicates closely with Certification and Technical groups at the Volkswagen Group Development and Emission Certification Centers (Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Bugatti). Responds to certification/regulatory related inquiries from these groups

* Responds to requests for vehicle specifications and emission data from various organizations

* Responds to technical and certification / regulatory related inquiries from government agencies

* Prepares documents to support the usage of exemption labels on Group Brands and maintains lists of vehicles with serialized labels

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:



  • 3-5 years of automotive-related experience in the following: Emissions; Regulatory; and Certification Field.


Education - Required



  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering / Information Systems / Automotive Technology or related field or equivalent


Education - Desired:



  • Master's Degree - Engineering / Business / Automotive Technology / IT project management

Specialized Skills - Required:

* Understanding of the Volkswagen Group product line, including vehicle types, body styles, model numbers, engine types

* Expertise in project management

* Understanding of vehicle emission control systems

* Understanding of emission regulations and emission testing/laboratory procedures

* Proficiency with standard business software, basic knowledge of and ability to learn the function of computer databases

Specialized Skills - Desired:

* Experience in project management.

* High level of expertise is Excel, project management software and MS office.

* Working knowledge of VBA programming

* Working knowledge of SQL and database fundamentals

Work Flexibility:

* Minimal amount of travel required

* Work schedule can be somewhat flexible (e.g., flextime, or compressed work week)

* Must be available to contact colleagues at U.S. and European locations and government agencies across the U.S. and Canada
