SUMMARY:

The Production Planner will report to the Production Planning Team Leader and be responsible for analyzing data, troubleshooting, process mapping, reducing inventory, maximizing efficiency, and new database integration within the production planning department. Also, the Production Planner will confer with department heads to determine the status of assigned projects, expedited operations that delay schedules, and for preparation of production reports. This is a key change agent position accountable for results, with minimal guidance, in the assigned areas of responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Participates in the development of the master plan to establish sequence and lead time of operations from procurement of raw materials through receipt of finished goods.
  • Resolves supply and logistics issues. Examines operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions and provides continuous process improvement methods to eliminate process upsets.
  • Communicates supply and logistics issues. Prepares various reports on a timely basis to assure that proper and ongoing communications along with required documentation are maintained.
  • Collect, analyze, and publish data on key metrics related to on-time performance, turnaround time, etc.
  • Ensure each operation meets shipping dates according to customer orders.
  • Oversees planning and scheduling workflow for each department according to previously established sequences and lead times.
  • Determine the status of expedited operations that delay or alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares or oversees the development of production reports.
  • Develops defined work packages including work instructions, BOM's, labels, references, and inspection requirements to initiate and control production work.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report performance to the schedule of production utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Ensures all parties are fully cognizant of production status, planning, and execution objectives are fully integrated and communicated.
  • Harmonizes with purchasing, customer service, logistics, receiving, and shipping departments to coordinate customer shipments.
  • Manages the resolution of discrepancy reports.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor of Science Degree (preferably technical or business-related).
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Logistics, Material Management, and Material Handling.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral/written), prioritize, and organize in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be analytical, outgoing, and capable of working across various functions and teams.
  • Microsoft Office competency and ERP experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data. Microsoft Excel and Access (advanced knowledge preferred).
  • Team and individual leadership, prioritization, trouble-shooting, and motivation.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Leads and directs the work of others.
  • A wide degree of creativity and self-direction is required.
