About the Job

Job description:
Performs research laboratory assignments, routine and limited in nature, in accordance with established practices and procedures.
Machines and equipment used: Laboratory equipment, tools and apparatus such as incubators, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, cryostat, PCR machine etc., computer and/or peripheral equipment

Responsibilities
75% technical duties:
* Tissue culture experiments (culturing and maintaining cells)
* Western blotting
* PCR analysis
* Handling animal colony and genotyping
* Assisting in developing new methods
* Frozen tissue sectioning
* Slide staining and scanning
* Other related duties as required

25% general laboratory duties
* Reagent preparation
* Calibrating pH meter, monitoring CO2 tanks, filling LN2 tanks
* Dish washing and autoclaving
* Unpacking orders

Other related duties as required.

This job is onsite on the East Bank.

Comp range: $22.75 - 25.00/hr

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on the application material(s).

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS in sciences and mathematics or equivalent combination or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to learn quickly
* Ability to organize and prioritize work and follow through on assignments
* Dependable

Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous laboratory experience
* Experience working with mice
