Nordson MEDICAL designs, engineers and manufactures complex devices and components with applications in wound healing, surgical and minimally invasive, fluid management, pulmonology and interventional and structural heart. Our pioneering Advanced Polymers team was the first to manufacture and supply medical balloons to the medical device industry. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer shall, at a minimum, be responsible for the following functions:

  • Using experience and technical knowledge to research and determine the right production equipment, material, process, and processing environment for PTFE tubing product line.
  • Coordinate the development and installation of new manufacturing equipment or new processes necessary for the introduction of new products and lead the efforts to verify and validate manufacturing processes.
  • Initiate and manage new capability development, product development, and process development projects in the PTFE productions to satisfy company's goals and strategy.
  • Prepare technical reports on the progress of process development and support the effort in the creation of manufacturing documentation.
  • Drive the development of continual process improvements using Lean Six Sigma techniques, analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing existing processes.
  • Participating in Company technology planning and development activities.
  • Lead and mentor more junior engineers in development efforts
  • Perform and support other company related duties as required

Education and Experience Requirements

Required:

  • 5+ years of plastic tubing extrusion experience in medical manufacturing or relevant industry
  • 5+ years of new product development in medical manufacturing or relevant industry
  • Ability to understand a broad range of extrusion equipment functions.
  • Lean six sigma and experience in utilizing them in process improvement projects. Black belt preferred.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors in polymer engineering or plastic engineering or Chemical engineering or relevant engineering. Master's or PhD preferred.
  • Knowledge of PTFE material, properties, and processing technology- preferred.
  • knowledge of PTFE extrusion process and tool design- preferred
  • Ability to understand a broad range of Plastic extrusion equipment functions
  • General knowledge of chemical and mechanical functions in general ram extrusion material and equipment.
  • Experience with 3D-CAD tools and Rapid Prototyping processes.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to comprehend technical details and be able to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills
  • Ability to use project management tools to keep track of tasks, milestones, project timelines etc.,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills, and related office software applications.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations, meetings, and training events.
  • Ability to comprehend technical details and be able to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The Senior Manufacturing process engineer shall, at minimum, meet the following pre-hire qualifications:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to read small print and to see at normal distances.
  • Ability to write clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to hear within normal ranges in person and on telephone.
  • Good eyesight.
  • Minimum 50 lbs. lifting required.
  • Ability to speak clearly in person and on telephone.
  • Ability to project a positive and competent Company image to customers.
