Come Join our patient focused dedicated team of rehabilitation professionals as Pediatric Occupational Therapist, PRN, working in the pediatric and NICU departments of our Inova L.J. Murphy Children's hospital in Fairfax, VA. We are ideally looking for an individual with experience working in acute care pediatrics and NICU. Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital is an award-winning, full service children's hospital that offers the highest level of dedicated pediatric care in Northern Virginia. Our pediatric rehab team provides therapy services to the 226 bed pediatric hospital which includes a PICU, Cardiac Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Medical/Surgical Unit, Hematology/Oncology, and Level IV NICU.

The Occupational Therapist 1 adheres to department policies regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.

Schedule: Minimum 2 weekend shifts a month. Additional hours available if desired

Job Responsibilities:


  • Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
  • Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
  • Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
  • Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
  • Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines - adjusting the treatment plan as needed.

Requirements:

Experience: New graduate occupational therapist (Prefer 1-year of experience)

Education: B.S. in Occupational Therapy - masters preferred

Licensure: Licensure: VA License required

Certification: Certification: BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)

Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge, proficient in English verbal and written skill
