Salary range:
See Table 18 for the salary range for this position. Salary is based on an annual full-time salary of $58,250. Teaching Assistants will not be appointed for more than 50% time during the Fall & Spring semesters.
Percent time:
25% - 50%

OR

Up to 100% in summer session only
Anticipated start:
Summer 2024-May 17, 2024

Fall 2024-August 16, 2024

Spring 2025 -January 1, 2025
Position duration:
Duration may be up to one semester or a summer term.

Position description

The School of Engineering anticipates hiring Teaching Assistants for lower- and upper-division courses for Academic Year 2024-2025, including Summer Session 2024, in the following disciplines:

Management of Innovation, Sustainability and Technology

Management of Complex Systems

Engineering Fundamentals (courses may include the following: Introduction to Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Circuit Theory, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Spatial Analysis, Information Systems, etc.)

The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for grading, attending lectures, leading discussion sections when appropriate and holding office hours. Additional information on the title is available at https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-410.pdf

Qualifications
Basic qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in the subject area or a related field
  2. Maintenance of a qualifying grade point average
  3. Academically eligible to hold the appointment (as outlined in the Graduate Policies and Procedures Handbook)
  4. Must be a registered UC Merced graduate student in full-time residence (registered for 12 units per term appointed; for summer appointment registered in 12 units in the previous term)
  5. Must have passed an Oral English Proficiency Examination (if applicable)
