Summary: This Certified Athletic Trainer position supports the UNC Health Lenoir Sports Medicine Program and UNC Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Lenoir outpatient clinic. The athletic trainer has an atypical work schedule, as the position must be available on a scheduled basis for varsity and junior varsity athletic activities. These activities include in-school training, after-school practices, home games, responding to injuries and illness, and assisting in educational seminars and similar programs. The position requires that the applicant possesses the clinical evaluation and educational skills expected of an athletic trainer working in a physician extender role. The athletic trainer is responsible for the following functions regarding athletic injuries prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification. The athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations under the supervision of a licensed physician. The athletic trainer assists orthopedic providers at UNC Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Lenoir, as time allows, for purposes of enhancing education and experience. Responsibilities:
