That's where you come in. We are looking for a digital-first Associate Video Producer who is excited to build their skills in writing, shooting, producing, editing and, most importantly, telling great stories. You'll work alongside experienced producers, journalists and creatives to develop video journalism and explainers across both vertical and horizontal formats. Your work may appear on the AJC's owned-and-operated platforms as well as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other emerging platforms. You will have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside some of the most accomplished journalists in the South while helping us establish a bold visual identity and storytelling style that defines the AJC for the next generation. You'll also have the chance to live, work and play in one of the nation's most dynamic cities and a major center for film and television production. A successful candidate has strong storytelling instincts, emerging editorial judgment and a solid foundation in video production. You should be comfortable contributing at multiple stages of the production process, from research and pitching through shooting and editing, while being eager to develop greater expertise and take on increasing responsibility. We're looking for someone who is curious, collaborative and obsessed with getting better. You pay attention to the details, care deeply about quality and accuracy, and are excited to experiment with new formats and creative approaches. Most importantly, you are a team player who is amenable and open to change, evolution, and shifting strategies as we navigate headwinds in the marketplace and changes across our organization. Some of your job responsibilities: Research, pitch and help produce short-form videos, series, franchises, explainers and documentaries that fit the AJC brand and voice as it continues to evolve Develop and produce evergreen content that supports the AJC's broader video strategy Write creative, compelling and journalistically accurate digital video scripts, incorporating feedback from producers and editors Support and, as experience grows, independently manage shoot logistics and production workflows Support and shoot in studio, recording podcast videos, and managing set up and breakdown Assist, support and shoot live hits in the office for reporters and external partners Contribute ideas for new video formats, visual approaches and storytelling techniques Assist with booking and coordinating on-camera characters, sources and show guests Participate in on-camera work and/or video narration when appropriate Shoot in the field using digital cinema cameras and other production equipment while developing a strong understanding of the AJC's visual identity Edit radio cuts, rough cuts and, depending on the project, final videos Collaborate throughout the post-production process with editors, graphic designers, producers and other stakeholders Incorporate editorial and creative feedback into scripts and edits with accuracy and attention to detail Maintain internal databases and follow production workflow systems so that footage, projects and other assets are organized and delivered consistently and on deadline Support the production of stories for sponsored partnerships and revenue-driving initiatives, as directed Work efficiently in a fast-paced news environment while balancing multiple assignments and deadlines Stay organized, communicate proactively and adapt quickly as editorial priorities change Continue developing proficiency across writing, reporting, producing, shooting and editing with the goal of taking on increasingly complex productions The qualifications and experience you should have: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field. A strong foundation in video production and a desire to develop into a highly skilled, versatile video producer Working proficiency with post-production software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar technology Experience shooting with professional or prosumer digital video cameras and familiarity with basic lighting and audio techniques Strong writing skills and an interest in developing journalistic and digital video writing expertise An understanding of the fundamentals of journalism, including accuracy, sourcing and fairness Strong communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with producers, journalists, editors, designers and talent Experience creating video for digital and/or social platforms Familiarity with the different storytelling conventions and audience expectations of platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok Curiosity about news, culture and the people and stories shaping Atlanta, Georgia and the South A willingness to experiment, learn new tools and formats, receive feedback and continually improve your craft Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment Flexibility and an ability to adapt to changing editorial priorities A commitment to following the AJC's editorial standards and practices Ability to work an extended or flexible schedule when news and production deadlines require it USD 55,600.00 - 83,400.00 per year Compensation: Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $55,600.00 - $83,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program. Benefits: The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
