Summary

Oversees histological procedures and ensuring the standards of laboratory operations. Handles the receipt, processing, and analysis of advanced and priority tissue specimens, performing microtomy and staining, and handles quality assurance initiatives. Ensures regulatory compliance, mentors junior staff, and participates in research and development projects

Essential Functions



  • Handles the receipt, accessioning, and processing of complex and high-priority specimens.
  • Performs and handles microtomy techniques, including cutting ultra-thin sections and handling challenging pecimens.
  • Conducts regular audits, identifies areas for improvement, and implements corrective actions to maintain standards of reliability.
  • Coordinates with other departments and stakeholders to streamline operations and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Mentors and trains junior technologists, providing guidance on complex techniques and best practices.
  • Identifies and resolves technical issues related to specimen processing, staining, and equipment.
    Handles the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of advanced laboratory equipment.
    * Handles inventory of reagents, supplies, and equipment, ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness.
    * Ensures the laboratory complies with all relevant regulatory standards and accreditation requirements


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree Candidates must meet minimum educational requirements for state-applicable certification and/or licensure:


Florida: Bachelors or Associates degree in histotechnology, medical laboratory technology, or related field in conjunction with Fl State Licensure as Histology Technologist;

Maryland & District of Columbia: Bachelors Degree in histotechnology, medical laboratory technology, or a related field from an accredited institution (Required)



  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience or one year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience in histology or a clinical laboratory (Required)
  • Certification as Histotechnologist (HTL) from ASCP or other approved agency. For candidates practicing in
    state of Florida: Florida state licensure as Histology Technologist is required Upon Hire (Required)


Salary Range: Minimum 35.00/hour - Maximum 57.71/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
