Cornell Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) seeking Temporary Counselor/Therapist

FSAP provides no-fee mental health consultation, brief counseling, referral services, integrated consultation services, crisis response, outreach, and education about mental health topics and issues to Cornell faculty, staff, academics, postdocs, retirees, and spouses/partners. Services are provided in-person and via telehealth. Counselors provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and responsive care, considering a range of experiences and personal identities such as age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, ability, veteran status, and sexual orientation.

As a Temporary Counselor/Therapist, you will:

  • Work a full-time schedule (usual business hours - M-F, 9:00am - 5:00pm) through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of an extension. We are open to considering candidates who would prefer a part-time schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Provide counseling services within the scope of FSAP to faculty and staff, postdocs, visiting scholars, retirees, and their spouses/partners.
  • Maintain case management to ensure client dispositions are successfully completed.

Compensation: $54.50/hr. This is a short-term position not eligible for university benefits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counseling (LMHC), Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), Social Work (LMSW or LCSW) or Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • At least three years of clinical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Currently resides in New York State
  • Licensed in New York State as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Master Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • CPR-BLS level certification

Preferred qualifications:

  • Training, expertise, and demonstrated skill working with historically marginalized and/or underrepresented communities
  • Experience with electronic health record management systems
  • Proficiency in a language in addition to English is desirable
  • Experience in an employee assistance program or in a university health care setting is a plus.

  • There is no visa sponsorship available for this position.
  • There is no relocation assistant available for this position.
