Job Description

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and success across multiple UCSF Health entities including consistent accounting processes are followed across all parts of the organization. Duties will include, but not limited to overseeing general ledger activities with significant transactions that involve inter-company ramifications, financial reporting, audits, reconciliations, and complex financial projects. This role works closely with hospital departments, campus partners, internal and external stakeholders to strengthen financial stewardship, resolve accounting issues, and support accurate and compliant financial reporting. Proven ability to champion the objectives of the accounting department particularly outside of the department often with non-financial stakeholders. Exercise's independent judgement to prioritize workload. Demonstrated track record of solving problems individually and collaboratively along with process improvements.

Qualifications
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in a related area and five or more years of applicable accounting experience OR HS Diploma/GED and nine years of applicable accounting experience. - Demonstrated skills in accounting, GASB, research, analyzing information and corporate finance. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) with the ability to build Excel worksheets and perform financial analysis. - Ability to independently gather, organize, and perform complex accounting-related analysis to complete work assignments. - Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing. - Possesses a sense of urgency; identifies challenges and problems and takes the initiative to identify solutions. - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people in diverse and different settings. - Flexibility to perform a variety of detailed accounting functions and meet established deadlines. - Ability to effectively facilitate change in an environment where the structure may evolve rapidly. - Well-developed problem-solving skills - The ability to work one day a week onsite in Emeryville or when required. Preferences: - Five or more years of applicable accounting experience working in a healthcare setting. - Certified Public Accountant. The ability to work onsite in Emeryville when required, based on business needs. Note: We are not providing any type of visa sponsorship or immigration support for this position.
