Salary Range Starting at: $50,000.00

Job Objective:

As the Divisional Content Coordinator, you will advance The Salvation Army's mission through strategic content creation and distribution within the Indiana Division. This role supports the efforts and initiatives of corps with engaged storytelling, expanded public communication, and the development of creative assets. This individual works closely with other members of the Community Relations Team to identify corps needs, develop and execute communications strategies, and track growth and progress at corps and divisional levels.

What You Will Do:



  • Work with leaders and staff at designated corps to evaluate local communications needs and develop strategies for content creation and distribution
  • Travel to corps across the Indiana Division to record videos, take photos, and conduct interviews with clients, volunteers, officers, staff, donors, and community partners
  • Attend select corps events to create organic content for local social media, websites, and press releases
  • Secure content from across the division for divisional development and marketing needs
  • Edit photos and videos for corps social media content, corps websites, and other special projects
  • Build and manage comprehensive photo and video archive for use throughout Indiana Division
  • Act as Public Information Officer (PIO) or assist designated PIO at Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) responses across the state as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned


Designated Corps



  • Approximately 75% of focus is on designated corps in northern and eastern Indiana with the remaining 25% of focus on select programs, events, and initiatives in the rest of the Indiana Division
  • Collaborate with leaders at designated corps to create a regular cadence of social media and website content highlighting:


    • Regularly recurring corps programs like food pantry, soup kitchen, open gym, youth and family nights, women and men's ministries, older adult ministry, and afterschool programs
    • Ongoing corps services like assistance with rent, utilities, prescription medication, and transportation
    • Special programs like Pathway of Hope, Christmas assistance, winter coat giveaways, back to school resources, educational opportunities, youth sports, musical arts, and youth camps
    • Special events, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising campaigns like the annual Red Kettle Campaign
    • Volunteer and donor testimonials, client impact stories, local partnerships and collaborations, and officer and staff features


  • Assist corps leaders and staff with timely public communication needs during local disaster responses or when the corps is used as an emergency shelter, warming center, or cooling center


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Visual Media, Digital Media & Marketing), or 3 years' experience in related field

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Demonstrated success in strategic communications, photography and/or videography, and digital media management.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English at an advanced level for effective communication with corps leaders, donors, volunteers, clients, and the public.
  • Demonstrated skill with digital photography and videography. Experience with lighting and/or sound preferred.
  • Able to engage one-on-one with people from all backgrounds in a comfortable and natural way to capture quality testimonials and video content.
  • Recent experience with creative software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Canva.
  • Working knowledge of multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn additional software platforms for daily use.
  • Experience writing interview questions, talking points, press releases, scripts, or story copy preferred.

Physical Requirements Include:



  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require bending, squatting, walking.
  • May require standing for extended


Travel: Travel required within the State of Indiana, with occasional travel to Chicagoland for training purposes. May require overnight travel.

Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in office and church environments. May require some weekend, evening work, and outdoor work.
