The Department of Pediatrics advances child health through comprehensive pediatric and subspecialty care, innovative clinical and basic science research, and excellence in academic medicine, improving outcomes for children and families across eastern North Carolina.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position provides administrative and operational support for the Pediatric Residency Program and assists with the coordination of educational activities, resident administration, accreditation processes, recruitment, and program operations. Reporting to the Pediatric Residency Coordinator, the position works closely with faculty, residents, Graduate Medical Education ( GME), visiting learners, departmental leadership, and administrative staff to support the daily functions and long-term success of the residency program. This position supports resident records management, MedHub administration, payroll processing, purchasing, travel coordination, conference tracking, committee support, meeting coordination, program communications, and compliance with GME, ACGME, university, and departmental requirements. It is responsible for coordinating all aspects of resident recruitment, serving as the primary liaison for applicants, faculty, and program leadership. The includes managing interview scheduling, applicant communications, evaluation processes, recruitment events, and ranking activities. This position supports the Pediatric Visiting Medical Student Program with application review, eligibility screening, elective placement coordination, onboarding, access management, student communications, and collaboration with institutional partners to support visiting student experiences.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides administrative and operational support for the Pediatric Residency Program (40%)
  • Coordinates resident recruitment, interviews, applicant communications, and selection activities (40%)
  • Administers the Pediatric Visiting Medical Student Program through VSLO (15%)
  • Supports record management, website maintenance, events, communications, inventory, and special projects (5%)
