Summary/Objective

The DOO is a leadership management role that has full responsibility for Field Services activities for AEM. The DOO will plan, direct, and coordinate the Area Compliance Managers (ACMs), in the production and day to day activities of all sites. They will be responsible for managing the ACMs to ensure each site maintains the highest level of safety awareness and compliance. Additionally, they will work with the ACMs to ensure all sites maintain environmental compliance specific for each site's permitting. DOO activities include managing and/or participating in recruiting, sales, scheduling, technical training, cost estimation, customer service, and asset allocation. The DOO is accountable for inspiring and executing strategies which achieve optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability.

The DOO is responsible for ensuring that operations personnel comply with all company (administrative and technical) SOPs as well as Safety and Quality Programs. The DOO is also responsible for resolving customer complaints and/or service issues. The DOO partners with the VP of Operations and the Sales team for business development opportunities within the area of business focus for AEM as well as areas of specialty services, if applicable, throughout the company. The DOO participates in business reviews, new account strategy and have hiring and firing decision-making roles within their group. They will perpetuate the following responsibilities, either personally or, through subordinate supervisors and subordinate connections.


Essential Functions

Safety & Compliance



  • Ensures Area Compliance Managers, and their teams maintain the highest level of safety awareness and regulatory compliance across all sites in the region
  • Ensures each site maintains environmental compliance specific to its permitting requirements
  • Fosters a strong safety culture across the region; holds ACMs accountable for correcting non-compliance issues


Quality Assurance



  • Accountable for regional Field Audit Observations, audit readiness reporting, and EOP review oversight
  • Accountable for CAPA completion, KPI preparation, and KPI meetings across the region
  • Investigates and manages Quality Near Misses and Quality Incidents reported within the region


Budget & Cost Management



  • Accountable for the annual regional project budget, project forecasting, and P&L management across all sites
  • Reviews and approves capital expenditure (Capex) requests and tracking for the region
  • Tracks project gross margin and utilization across the region; approves time and expense as required


Regional Operations & Project Management



  • Plans, directs, and coordinates Area Compliance Managers and Site Supervisors in the day-to-day execution of LDAR and inside-the-fence compliance monitoring programs across the region
  • Maintains and reviews the regional Master Site List; ensures accuracy and timely updates
  • Reviews test plans and reports; ensures scheduling and resource allocation align with client and regulatory requirements


Staffing



  • Accountable for hiring, interviewing, disciplinary action, promotions, and succession planning across the region, in partnership with the People Team
  • Assigns training and ensures completion across ACMs and their teams


Customer Relationship Management



  • Partners with Sales and the Commercial team to develop proposals, cost estimates, and pricing for renewals and new business within the region
  • Resolves customer service issues and maintains strong client relationships across regional accounts


Other



  • Performs all duties with integrity, safety, and professionalism
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Will have responsibility for ACMs, Supervisors, and Lead Personnel, as well as the broader field technician workforce.
  • Accountable for opening requisitions, reviewing resumes, and conducting interviews for open positions within the region
  • Accountable for disciplinary action, promotions, and succession planning across the region, executed in partnership with the People Team
  • Accountable for annual performance reviews and Good Place to Work survey action items across the region


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in process or environmental engineering or experience equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience and/or training in a process environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in an environmental services management utilizing QMR.
  • Proven technical leadership with the ability to utilize structured problem-solving methods to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated competence to work with minimum supervision effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to work independently and must be a self-starter.

Work Environment

This position involves work both in the office and in the field. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly travels to industrial work sites to oversee Regional Managers, Supervisors, and site personnel, and works closely with the VP of Operations and Commercial team from an office setting. When on job sites, the employee may occasionally be exposed to extreme environmental conditions or industrial hazards, including extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions, and is required to use personal protective equipment (PPE). Frequent emotional stress levels are associated with cross-regional leadership responsibilities, deadlines, and accuracy.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculators, and copiers is needed. When visiting field sites, the employee is required to:



  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods in an outdoor industrial environment, such as a petroleum refinery or chemical processing facility
  • Tolerate adverse weather conditions (extreme hot/cold and inclement weather)
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to a hardhat, fire retardant coveralls, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety boots


Travel

Up to approximately 30 percent.
