The Vice President of Advanced Practice serves as the executive leader responsible for the strategic vision, growth, and advancement of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across the organization. Through visionary leadership, strategic partnership, and a commitment to clinical excellence, this executive works to position APPs as essential contributors to organizational growth, patient outcomes, workforce sustainability, and healthcare delivery. This role partners closely with physician, operational, and executive leadership to optimize the contribution of advanced practice providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered, and value-based care. The Vice President develops and executes enterprise-wide strategies that advance clinical excellence, provider engagement, innovation, and operational performance. The role serves as the organization's senior advocate for APP practice, ensuring APPs are empowered to practice at the top of their licensure while supporting access, quality, and financial objectives. Primary Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise strategy for Advanced Practice Providers that aligns with organizational mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
- Serve as the executive sponsor for APP practice, professional development, and workforce optimization.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and expansion of APP-led and APP-integrated care models.
- Consult on long-range workforce planning initiatives to ensure recruitment, retention, succession planning, and leadership development for the APP workforce.
- Drive initiatives that improve patient access, care delivery efficiency, quality outcomes, and provider satisfaction.
Operational and Clinical Excellence
- Establish system-wide standards for APP practice, utilization, productivity, quality, and professional performance.
- Collaborate with physicians and operational leaders to optimize APP deployment and ensure effective integration across specialties and care settings.
- Advance evidence-based practice, clinical innovation, and care transformation initiatives that improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators related to APP engagement, quality, access, productivity, and financial performance.
- Lead enterprise efforts to ensure APP practice aligns with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.
- Provide leadership in support of accreditation, program certification and regulatory activities of the organization, including, but not limited to AAAHC, CMS, patient safety programs and others identified by Springfield Clinic.
Executive Partnership and Influence
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership regarding APP workforce strategy, practice issues, regulatory changes, and emerging trends.
- Foster strong partnerships among physicians, APPs, operational leaders, and external stakeholders to promote collaborative care models.
- Represent the organization in regional, state, and national professional organizations, regulatory forums, and advocacy efforts related to advanced practice.
- Chair the APP Advisory Council supporting professional practice of APPs across the continuum.
- Provide leadership for organizational initiatives, committees, and strategic projects as designated by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Serves on the Quality Management and Credentialing Advisory Boards (other committees as needed such as AAAHC).
- Provide leadership, attend and participate in SC meetings as requested, task forces, retreats, etc. as a representative of the Department or as requested by the CMO. Provide feedback and follow-up to CMO and/or appropriate Operations leaders

- Facilitate pathways for APP career advancement, mentorship, succession planning, and leadership growth.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, diversity, and continuous learning.
- Serve as a role model for advanced practice providers through conduct, communication, mutual respect, positive change, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Financial and Organizational Stewardship
- Collaborate with finance and operational leaders to develop workforce and compensation strategies that support recruitment, retention, and organizational goals.
- Evaluate the financial impact of APP programs and initiatives while ensuring efficient and effective resource utilization.
- Lead initiatives that maximize the value and impact of APPs throughout the organization.
Requirements Education and Experience
- Current certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience, including responsibility for organizational, operational, or strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale clinical, operational, or workforce transformation initiatives.

- Expertise in APP practice standards, regulatory requirements, workforce planning, and care model design.
