About the Role:

The Corporate Counsel serves as a trusted legal advisor and
strategic business partner, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of
the organization to provide practical legal guidance on commercial
transactions, regulatory matters, corporate initiatives, and a growing payments
business. This role supports the company by identifying and mitigating legal
and compliance risks, navigating evolving laws and regulations, drafting and
negotiating contracts, managing disputes and investigations, and ensuring
adherence to applicable legal requirements, including the Fair Credit Reporting
Act (FCRA). The Corporate Counsel works closely with leadership, regulators,
and external partners to deliver business-focused legal solutions that protect
the organization while enabling growth, innovation, and operational success.

What You'll Do:

  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize customer and vendor
    commercial agreements, with particular emphasis on SaaS agreements.
  • Provide legal review and guidance supporting Yardi's payment
    processing business.
  • Advise on payment network rules, card brand requirements,
    ACH operating rules, and applicable state and federal payment regulations.
  • Support development of consumer-facing disclosures,
    agreements, and terms of service for payment products.
  • Advise on consumer protection requirements applicable to
    payment processing including UDAAP, Regulation E, and applicable state consumer
    protection statutes.
  • Negotiate and draft agreements with banking partners,
    payment networks, processors, and other financial services vendors.
  • Review data processing agreements, data use policies, and
    data sharing agreements with banking partners, service providers and customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

  • Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active Bar membership in the United States with no record of
    discipline
  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant legal experience
    (firm or in-house)
  • A genuine teammate - friendly, collegial, and someone people
    want to work with
  • Highest level of professional ethics, personal integrity,
    sound judgment, and emotional intelligence
  • Working knowledge of, or genuine curiosity about, software
    development, complex relational databases, cloud computing, AI, and
    software-as-a-service (SaaS)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong and demonstrated ability to work individually and as
    a team, with minimal direct supervision - calm under pressure and adept at
    juggling competing demands
  • Interest in learning and analyzing complex statutory regimes
    and case law, and a talent for turning complexity into clear, sound conclusions
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and
    Outlook, legal AI tools, and ability to learn and use proprietary
    customer/matter management software
  • Ability to work at assigned office location
  • Occasional travel up to 20%
  • Perform tasks for extended periods of time on the computer
  • Regular attendance and a regular work schedule are essential
    functions of this job

Ideal to Have:

  • Law firm or in-house commercial transactional experience
    (SaaS, data privacy, AI a plus)
  • Law firm or in-house experience in the payments or financial
    services industry
  • Familiarity working with software developers a plus

Annual Salary Range: $168,000 - $189,000
