Overview:

Global Power Components is a privately held, financially sound, and rapidly growing manufacturer of UL heavy-gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures that house fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. As we continue expanding our operations, we are seeking an experienced Weld Supervisor to lead multiple welding teams, oversee Weld Leads, and ensure production, quality, and safety objectives are achieved. This position reports directly to the Welding Manager and serves as a key leader on the shop floor.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise and support Weld Leads and their respective welding/fabrication teams.
  • Coordinate daily production activities to ensure schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements are met.
  • Monitor workflow, labor allocation, and departmental priorities to maximize efficiency and throughput.
  • Collaborate with the Welding Manager to execute production plans, staffing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure welders and Weld Leads comply with company safety standards, welding procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Train, coach, and develop Weld Leads and welding personnel to improve technical skills, productivity, and engagement.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work in process to verify compliance with engineering drawings, welding specifications, and quality standards.
  • Assist in troubleshooting fabrication and welding issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor departmental performance and address production bottlenecks, quality concerns, and workforce challenges.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary actions in partnership with management and Human Resources.
  • Maintain accurate production, attendance, and quality documentation.
  • Communicate operational updates, process changes, and company initiatives to Weld Leads and welding personnel.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture throughout the welding department.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of leadership experience supervising welders, Weld Leads, or shop floor personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of MIG welding processes, fabrication methods, weld quality standards, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and production documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams and balance production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Ability to perform shop calculations and measurements to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.
  • Experience working with heavy-gauge steel fabrication preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing production reporting systems.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to producing high-quality work.
