Senior Manager, Strategic Planning

The Senior Manager, Strategic Planning will drive strategic planning, execution governance, and program management across assigned functional pillars. This role partners closely with executive leadership to create integrated business plans, monitor progress against strategic priorities, and ensure organizational objectives and performance metrics are achieved. The position serves as a key advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic insights, financial oversight, and leadership on enterprise initiatives.

Role Responsibilities
  • Create and manage strategic and execution frameworks across assigned business and functional pillars.
  • Provide visibility to key stakeholders on integrated functional plans aligned to Western Union's strategic priorities.
  • Track team deliverables, commitments, milestones, and performance metrics to ensure successful execution.
  • Lead strategic planning activities and serve as a key participant representing the function during enterprise planning processes.
  • Provide disciplined program and project management to ensure proper resource allocation and maximize return on investment for strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain integrated strategic plans, KPIs, and reporting frameworks that support business objectives.
  • Identify risks proactively and implement mitigation plans to ensure successful delivery against commitments.
  • Create and communicate cohesive narratives and executive-level updates for key stakeholders on a regular and as-needed basis.
  • Act as a proxy for the executive leader in strategic discussions and decision-making when appropriate.
  • Represent the head of the function in internal meetings, cross-functional initiatives, and business reviews.
  • Provide financial management oversight, analysis, and support to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Partner with leadership teams to drive cross-company initiatives and strategic transformation efforts.
  • Lead high-priority strategic projects as assigned by executive leadership.
  • Ensure the department operates in an efficient, effective, and lean manner while supporting long-term business objectives.
Role Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in strategic planning, business operations, finance, program management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Strong strategic planning, program management, and execution management capabilities.
  • Experience managing complex initiatives and aligning cross-functional teams to common goals.
  • Proven ability to develop executive-level reporting, business cases, and strategic frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions and provide recommendations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting senior executives and driving enterprise-wide initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in large, global, matrixed organizations.
  • Background in financial planning, business operations, or corporate strategy.
  • Experience leading enterprise transformation, change management, or strategic business initiatives.
  • Proven success influencing executive stakeholders and driving organizational alignment.

Work Shift

HYBRID -Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. We believe this fosters common ways of working and supports how we execute initiatives for our customers. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.

Salary

The base salary range is $140,000 - $200,000 USD per year; total on-target earnings include a base salary and short-term and long-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
