Summary: The Human Resources Benefits Generalist ensures employees receive accurate, timely, and supportive administration of benefits, wellness programs, and leave of absence processes. This role provides hands-on expertise in medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives while serving as a primary resource for employees navigating FMLA, ADA, personal leave, and other protected leave programs. By maintaining strict compliance with federal and state regulations, managing benefit eligibility and enrollment, coordinating open enrollment, supporting audits, and ensuring the integrity of HRIS benefit data, the Benefits Generalist strengthens the employee experience and safeguards organizational compliance. Essential Functions:
- Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accident, HSA, retirement/403(b) plans, EAP, and COBRA.
- Manage employee benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, and terminations; ensure timely updates across benefit systems.
- Ensures timely and accurate transmission of benefit eligibility files to carriers, monitoring integrations, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining uninterrupted employee coverage.
- Reconcile health plan eligibility reports and insurance invoices.
- Respond to employee benefit inquiries and serve as liaison between the employee, insurance carriers, TPAs, and benefit vendors.
- Maintain accurate benefit content on SharePoint.
- Assist employees with completing on-line benefit enrollments and applications.
- Administer and coordinate all aspects of FMLA leave, including eligibility, documentation review, employee notifications, and tracking.
- Serve as primary contact for employees and managers regarding FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leaves, and protected leave programs.
- Maintain accurate leave records and update HRIS/UKG.
- Track leave payments and send bi-weekly leave correspondence as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state leave laws and Goodwill policies.
- Support workers' compensation administration, including communication with employees and coordination of modified duty.
- Oversee, maintain, and facilitate company wellness initiatives.
- Coordinate annual wellness screenings, health fairs, and monthly wellness communications.
- Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment, including planning, communication, facilitating meetings, and managing online enrollment systems.
- Maintain HRIS/UKG benefit processes and ensure accuracy of benefit changes.
- Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations relative to benefit programs.
- Prepare reports related to leave administration, benefits participation, and compliance.
- Oversee annual nondiscrimination testing, benefit audits, and other filings as required.
- Attend in-service and related training as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
- Adhere to all Goodwill personnel policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of benefit and leave administration, federal and state employment laws and Human Resources best practices.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment of sensitive medical and personnel information.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Experience:
- Three to five years of professional Human Resources experience with demonstrated experience in benefits and leave administration.
- Extensive knowledge of benefit laws (ACA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA), and related regulations.
- Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) experience, UKG/Kronos preferred.
- Professional Human Resources certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to successfully complete assigned Goodwill training within the required period of time upon employment.
Special Requirements:
- Personal vehicle usage is required for this position, including a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and the ability to provide proof of insurance for driving on company business.
- An acceptable motor vehicle record, based on Goodwill guidelines, is required for driving a personal or company vehicle.
- Must provide a cell phone for specified work responsibilities, including the use of a phone-based application for authentication.
- A high-speed, reliable broadband internet connection is required for job functions.
- Must successfully complete a state background investigation and drug screen.

- Remote/Hybrid with occasional travel is required to Goodwill facilities, benefit events, training sessions, meetings, and other organizational functions.

- Must be available to work during standard business hours, with flexibility to work occasional evenings or extended hours to support business needs.
- Frequent interaction with employees, applicants, managers, and organizational leadership through virtual and in-person communication.
- The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
