As an Assistant Operations Manager, you'll help lead our teams in maintaining high standards of operational efficiency while prioritizing the safety of all team members. As a steward of operational excellence an Assistant Operations Manager will need to be flexible and adapt to changing operational needs and schedules. With our dedicated teams working on all three coasts across over 33 ports and 70 locations, you'll feel empowered to grow professionally while serving the communities in which we operate.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and accident prevention procedures.
  • Supervise and manage Foreman, Labor, and other personnel, ensuring performance meets expectations and customer needs.
  • Manage daily labor needs, ordering appropriately and controlling overtime costs.
  • Collaborate with M&R/Terminal Departments for efficient equipment allocation.
  • Maintain positive labor relations and adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Proactively address employee performance issues and take corrective actions as needed
  • Advise leadership on labor matters and assist with complaint resolution.
  • Provide regular training and feedback to staff.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operating procedures.
  • Ensure certifications and training are current for all staff.
  • Enforce company policies, controls, procedures and ensure timely reporting.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule (shift work).


Physical Working Attributes:



  • Work on ships, climbing up and down a ladder on a vessel during shift
  • Work in changing climates based on weather conditions.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to visual and audible safety signals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 30lbs.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline; or High School Diploma/GED equivalent AND 4+ years of management experience, preferably within operations, transportation, warehousing, supply chain, stevedoring, or comparable military environments.
  • Obtain and maintain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) issued by the Department of Homeland Security
  • Valid US Driver's License



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Understanding of cargo stowage and stability.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, plan effectively, influence others, and make sound decisions.



NOTE:

Compensation & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $XX,XXX - $XX,XXX annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location. Eligible employees may receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off, paid holidays, and other company-sponsored benefits. Additional incentive compensation may be available based on the position.
