Small Machine Operator

Michigan Center, MI

Position: 3rd Shift Must be available for all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd)

$19.45 per hour + $0.75 shift differential

(3 year pay progression: after year 1: $1.00 increase, after year 2: $2.00 increase, after year 3: $2.00 increase)

PRIMARY DUTIES

The Production Operator performs entry-level production activities, generally under supervision, while maintaining H.B. Fuller standards for safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare raw materials and packaging by identifying and staging the correct materials and quantities for production.
  • Transport raw materials and packaging to the appropriate production areas and report any deviations or discrepancies.
  • Accurately document the start and completion of production processes as required.
  • Operate processing and production equipment in accordance with established work instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor equipment and production processes to maintain desired operating and production rates.
  • Perform initial product testing and release activities to ensure products meet established specifications and quality requirements.
  • Verify labels and packaging materials for accuracy and ensure products are labeled in accordance with established procedures.
  • Package finished products according to work instructions and H.B. Fuller quality standards.
  • Follow all applicable H.B. Fuller Quality Standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through established housekeeping practices.
  • Identify and report production, equipment, safety, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • No previous manufacturing experience required.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, production procedures, safety requirements, quality procedures, and written instructions.
  • Ability to accurately follow established processes and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to work assigned shifts, including overtime and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) year of experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or similar work environment.
  • Previous experience operating production or processing equipment.
  • Basic English communication and comprehension skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs throughout the shift.
  • Ability to use hands to handle, remove, move, or lift boxes and production materials.
  • Ability to reach and stretch with arms extended.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and perform repetitive movements as required.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment where exposure to varying temperatures, dust, odors, and noise may occur.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all established safety requirements.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $19.45 per hour + $0.75 shift differential (3 year pay progression: after year 1: $1.00 increase, after year 2: $2.00 increase, after year 3: $2.00 increase)..
