Cyber Security Fellow

We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Cybersecurity Fellow to help shape the future of cybersecurity across the FedEx enterprise. This is a senior individual contributor role designed for a master practitioner who combines deep technical expertise, enterprise-scale architectural thinking, and the ability to influence strategy across a complex global organization.

As a Cybersecurity Fellow, you will serve as one of the enterprise's leading cybersecurity experts and a trusted advisor to technology, security, and business leaders. You will help embed security into the foundation of our most important technology initiatives, enabling FedEx to innovate quickly while maintaining a secure, resilient, and scalable environment.

A significant focus of this role will be advancing the transformation of cybersecurity through artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and modern security engineering. You will help define how emerging technologies can strengthen threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, security architecture, and overall cyber resilience while also helping FedEx securely adopt AI across the enterprise.

This is a highly hands-on role for a leader who is equally comfortable shaping enterprise strategy, whiteboarding an architecture, collaborating with engineering teams, developing a prototype, or presenting recommendations to senior leadership.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a senior security architect and trusted enterprise partner, providing expert guidance for complex, high-impact technology and business initiatives.
• Help define and advance enterprise cybersecurity strategy, architecture, standards, patterns, and technical roadmaps.
• Lead efforts to transform cybersecurity through AI, machine learning, automation, and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security operations.
• Proactively identify vulnerabilities, emerging threats, and architectural risks and design solutions that are secure, resilient, scalable, and practical for enterprise adoption.
• Provide deep technical leadership across multiple security domains, including cloud security, application security, identity and access management, data protection, AI/ML security, DevSecOps, CI/CD security, network and perimeter security, endpoint security, and OT/SCADA environments.
• Partner closely with development teams, business leaders, security professionals, and enterprise architects to understand business objectives and create security patterns that enable teams to move quickly and securely.
• Design and implement reusable security architectures, frameworks, guardrails, and engineering patterns that can be adopted consistently across the enterprise.
• Research attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems and environments and design appropriate countermeasures and preventative controls.
• Provide technical leadership around security technologies deployed across application, network/perimeter, data, endpoint, mobility, and cloud domains.
• Assess and communicate the potential business impact associated with the theft, destruction, alteration, misuse, or denial of access to enterprise information and systems.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their potential security implications, risks, and opportunities for FedEx.
• Take a hands-on approach to emerging challenges, including developing security prototypes, writing code or automation, designing secure data architectures, and creating security frameworks for new technologies and AI models.
• Mentor and develop technical talent throughout the cybersecurity organization, helping elevate security architecture and engineering capabilities across teams.
• Translate complex cybersecurity concepts, risks, and recommendations into clear, concise, actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
• Influence enterprise technology decisions through technical expertise, collaboration, and the ability to build consensus across organizational boundaries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Deep, hands-on expertise across multiple cybersecurity domains, which may include cloud security, application security, CI/CD security gates, DevSecOps, data protection, AI/ML security, OT/SCADA, identity and access management, network/perimeter security, endpoint security, and security infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience developing cybersecurity strategy and architecture at enterprise scale.
• Strong understanding of security and risk frameworks, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Strong technical, consulting, and project leadership capabilities.
• Proven ability to identify complex security challenges and translate them into scalable technical solutions and architectural patterns.
• Ability to influence and build consensus with stakeholders at all levels, from engineers and architects to business leaders and senior executives.
• An enablement-oriented mindset with demonstrated success integrating security into technology and business workflows without unnecessarily slowing innovation.
• Strong understanding of modern cloud platforms, software development practices, DevSecOps, and enterprise technology architectures.
• Relentless curiosity and a growth mindset, with the ability to quickly learn emerging technologies, understand their security implications, and develop practical solutions.
• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor technical professionals and lead through expertise and influence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or other advanced or specialized security certifications.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance cybersecurity capabilities.
• Experience securing GenAI, large language models, AI agents, and other emerging AI technologies.
• Hands-on coding or automation experience using technologies such as Python, Go, Terraform, or similar languages and tools to develop security prototypes and automate security processes.
• Experience securing cloud-native, highly distributed, or globally scaled technology environments.
• Experience with OT/SCADA or other operational technology environments.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree Equivalent in computer science, information systems, and/or equivalent formal training.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years' experience in IT information security.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Skills include it security and infrastructure.

Strong technical and consulting skills, project management capability.

Experience with security and risk frameworks, standards and best practices.

Strong communication skills.

Domicile

This position may be domiciled in Memphis, TN; Plano, TX; Dallas, TX; Orlando, FL; or Pittsburgh, PA. This is a hybrid position, and the selected candidate will be expected to work from their designated FedEx office in accordance with FedEx's hybrid work requirements and business needs. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and applicable FedEx policies.
