Bindery Machine Operator

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow job tickets, production schedules, work instructions, and quality documentation.
• Basic computer skills required.

Experience Requirements

• Previous bindery, printing, manufacturing, machine operation, production, or industrial experience.
• Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred.
• Experience with quality inspections, machine setup, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance is a plus.
• Familiarity with production tracking systems and manufacturing software is beneficial.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and balance throughout the shift.
• Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work around moving machinery, forklifts, and production equipment.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes and hearing protection.
• Ability to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Job Duties

• Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain bindery machinery to meet production schedules and quality standards.
• Load materials, prepare machine setups, adjust equipment settings, and perform make-ready activities.
• Conduct quality inspections and document production results according to company procedures.
• Package, label, palletize, stretch-wrap, and prepare finished products for shipment.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
• Troubleshoot machine jams and minor operational issues to minimize downtime.
• Train and direct assistants while coordinating workflow on assigned equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all safety, lockout/tagout, and company policies.
