Low Voltage Estimator

Location: West Valley City, UT
Schedule/Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Pay: $65,000-$90,000 annually, with up to a 10% bonus

Job Summary

The Low Voltage Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for low voltage projects, with an emphasis on data center, structured cabling, security, and communications systems. This role reviews project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop material takeoffs, labor estimates, and comprehensive project pricing. The Estimator will support projects across government, higher education, and other commercial environments while utilizing industry-specific estimating software and manufacturer solutions. Occasional travel to project sites may be required to support estimating and preconstruction activities.

Job Responsibilities




  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents for low voltage projects.



  • Prepare detailed material takeoffs, labor estimates, cost projections, and competitive project bids.



  • Estimate structured cabling, data center, communications, security, and related low voltage systems.



  • Analyze project requirements and identify materials, equipment, labor, and other resources needed for successful project execution.



  • Utilize estimating and takeoff software to develop and maintain accurate project estimates.



  • Review vendor and manufacturer information to ensure proposed solutions meet project specifications.



  • Support estimating efforts for state, federal government, higher education, and commercial projects.



  • Coordinate with internal project teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and pricing.



  • Maintain organized estimating documentation and update estimates as project requirements change.



  • Participate in site visits as needed to evaluate existing conditions and project requirements.




Job Requirements




  • Previous experience estimating low voltage, structured cabling, data center, communications, security, or related systems.



  • Experience performing electronic takeoffs and developing detailed project estimates.



  • Familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, Q360, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, or similar estimating and construction software.



  • Knowledge of structured cabling solutions and products, including CommScope and Panduit.



  • Familiarity with video surveillance and security solutions, including Axis and Hanwha, is preferred.



  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scopes of work.



  • Understanding of labor, material, equipment, and project cost estimating principles.



  • Experience with government, state, federal, higher education, or similar public-sector bidding environments is preferred.



  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.



  • Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and competing priorities.



  • Proficiency with standard computer applications and estimating tools.



  • Ability to travel occasionally to project sites as required.
