DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on performing skilled repair and maintenance work across the facility to ensure secure, functional, and well-kept surroundings. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Carpentry Tasks: Repair doors, furniture, and partitions using power and hand tools
  • Electrical Work: Install circuits, fixtures, and outlets and repair motors and related systems
  • Plumbing Duties: Fix fixtures, open drains, and install pipe for water and steam lines
  • Equipment Service: Maintain heating, cooling, and refrigeration units and repair cooking equipment
  • Grounds Maintenance: Cut grass, trim shrubbery, and keep outdoor areas free of debris
  • Safety Practices: Use protective gear and follow safety rules while addressing hazards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. In this position, you will be required to work every other weekend.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.


Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience working with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience working domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as they relate to repair of buildings
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings at a long-term care facility
