THE POSITION

We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Liquor Store Assistant Manager 1 to join our Fine Wine & Good Spirits store at Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth operation of the store while delivering exceptional customer service. You will work closely with the General Manager to lead, motivate, and develop a team, drive sales, and maintain high standards of store presentation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily operation of a retail liquor store by supervising clerks and ensuring steady store activity. The role focuses on customer service, staff coordination, inventory practices, and smooth shift transitions. As a Liquor Store Assistant Manager 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Shift Leadership: Guide staff during assigned shifts and ensure coverage across all service areas
  • Customer Support: Assist shoppers, resolve concerns, and help maintain a positive store environment
  • Inventory Oversight: Monitor product counts, address discrepancies, and keep systems updated
  • Cash Procedures: Handle cash accurately, prepare deposits, and manage register operations
  • Store Readiness: Maintain a clean, organized store and prepare the location for opening or closing

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Free - Secure - Onsite Parking
  • Work hours will vary. Scheduled hours will be equal to 75 hrs. biweekly.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Liquor Store Clerk 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years as a Liquor Store Clerk 1 or an Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of lead retail sales work.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
