Description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Merchant Sales Officer to join our team! This position will drive revenue growth by developing and expanding new and existing customer relationships through a focus Merchant Services products and solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Statement Analysis: Analyze merchant account statements-both internally and externally-to assemble proposals and RFPs, providing insightful recommendations that drive sales opportunities.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare compelling proposals in advance of deadlines for prospects and clients, tailoring content based on the requirements and the specific needs of each client to maximize new opportunities and revenue.
  • Revenue Enhancement: Identify and cultivate opportunities to introduce new services/products that enhance customer satisfaction while maximizing revenue potential.
  • Client Acquisition: Actively seek and convert prospects into clients for Merchant Services, expending the customer base and increasing fee generation.
  • Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact for a diverse portfolio of customers, managing their Merchant Services needs and ensuring high satisfaction levels that drive repeat business and referrals.
  • Collaborative Selling: Work closely with whole-bank teams to conduct joint calls and presentations, showcasing the value of Merchant Services and identifying cross-selling opportunities.
  • Product Optimization: Analyze customer needs to recommend and implement appropriate Merchant Services products that align with their business goals, ensuring profitable account setups.
  • Revenue Management: Monitor income production and loss prevention, ensuring that pricing strategies are competitive and aligned with market trends.
  • Merchant SME: Provide sales expertise to peers and partners on Merchant Services products, enhancing team effectiveness and driving collective revenue goals.
  • Metrics Tracking: Maintain accurate reporting metrics to assess performance against revenue targets and identify areas for improvement.
  • Proactive Outreach: Engage in regular outreach to clients and prospects, ensuring a consistent pipeline of opportunities for new business and revenue growth.
  • Travel Requirements: Approximately 20% travel required for client meetings and business development efforts.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research to identify potential client needs and trends, using this information to support proactive sales initiatives and inform client conversations.


In order to be successful in this position, the following is required:



  • Associate's degree in business, marketing or a related field of study.
  • Three (3) years of business development, sales, or related financial services experience.


The following would be a plus:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field of study.
