This is a skilled, semi-skilled position in several trades. An employee of this job performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and buildings. The employee exercise technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments orally or through written instructions which may be accompanied by sketches or diagrams. Work is reviewed by superiors through inspections and discussions. * Installs electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors, and other such equipment. * Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment, which includes testing, and evaluating equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. * Test and calibrate pneumatic HVAC controls. * Installs, repairs, and maintains commercial refrigeration equipment. * Performs daily inspections on refrigeration equipment, morning, and afternoon, making minor adjustments as needed and scheduling major repairs. * Performs skilled maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing. * Checks and repairs pumps, fans, valves, pneumatic, electric and fuel injected motors. * Adjust, repairs, and replaces electrical and electronic pneumatic relays. * Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, air, and sewer systems; including opening clogged drains and pipes. * Maintains and repairs lift trucks and pallet jacks. * Maintains tools and machinery in good condition, and uses all tools carefully. * Has authority to purchase tools and repair parts that do not exceed $100.00. Larger purchases require supervisors' approval. Purchase orders must be submitted on all purchases over $10.00 Receipts must be provided on all purchases. * Maintains tools and machinery in good condition, and uses all tools carefully. * Organizes and maintains tool room and spare parts storage rooms. * Performs accurate records for preventive maintenance. * Check the CCTV systems on a daily basis in the afternoon to verify systems are working correctly in accordance with OP, 174. Address and resolve any issues as needed. * Performs other duties as required and file all work orders each day. * Conduct routine weekly, monthly and annual inspection of emergency eye-wash and emergency showers in accordance with OP512 Emergency Eye-Wash & Emergency Showers. Ability to interpret and work from sketches and diagrams. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. * High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade school diploma preferred. Preferably two years' experience in building and plant maintenance work which involved electrical, mechanical, refrigeration (Freon and/or Ammonia), and building trades. Should have considerable knowledge of the occupations hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved. Preferably have an EPA certification card.
