Job Summary This position is a unique split-role opportunity that provides dedicated support to the same physician across two distinct practice environments. The physician serves both as a retinal specialist in a traditional clinical practice and as a provider within the Inherited Retinal Disorders Service, a specialized research-focused clinic. As a result, this role combines the responsibilities of a fast-paced clinical practice support position with the high-touch, patient-centered coordination required in a specialized inherited disease program.Success in this role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to quickly adjust priorities while building meaningful relationships with patients and families. 0.5 FTE: Retina Practice Support Provides administrative support for a physician's retina practice, including: -Answering and managing telephone calls -Scheduling, rescheduling, and coordinating patient appointments -Scheduling surgical procedures -Preparing for clinic sessions and completing post-clinic follow-up activities -Supporting a higher-volume, fast-paced retina clinic that operates several times per month -Providing additional support during physician on-call weeks, when priorities and workload can shift quickly This portion of the role requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, multitasking, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a busy clinical environment. ________________________________________ 0.5 FTE: Inherited Retinal Disorders Service Support Provides administrative support within the Inherited Retinal Disorders Service, a specialized research-based clinic focused on patients with inherited retinal diseases. -Supports a physician who works in both the retina practice and the inherited retinal disorders clinic -Shares responsibilities with another administrative staff member -Coordinates patient visits and clinic activities for a smaller patient population Supports a unique, high-touch clinic model where patients may spend an entire day in clinic for testing and evaluation -Assists with operational workflow and patient coordination throughout the visit -Works closely with patients and families, requiring a compassionate, service-oriented approach and strong relationship-building skills Because many patients have inherited conditions, this role includes a family-centered component that often requires empathy, patience, and supportive communication similar to a social work environment. ________________________________________ Ideal Candidate Profile -Comfortable balancing two distinct clinical environments -Able to manage multiple priorities and adjust quickly to changing needs -Strong multitasking and organizational skills -Personable, engaging, and patient-focused -Enjoys developing long-term relationships with patients and families -Flexible and adaptable in a role that alternates between low-volume, high-touch work and faster-paced clinical support activities.
