Job Description
General Purpose of Job: To provide professional and technical services for the treatment and care of Orthopedic patients. Essential Duties
- Facilitate patient admission to appropriate hospital bed / floor / service.
- Perform and dictate History & Physicals, Consultations, Discharge Summaries and SOAP notes on any/all patient floors for Orthopedic Surgery Patients.
- Assists and collaborates with development of plan of care based on patient assessment in collaboration with the Orthopedic Surgeons.
- Assists with the oversight of the Residents and participates in their education
- Orders, monitors, and Reviews x-rays, lab values and other diagnostic reports. Communicates critical lab results to the physicians.
- Performs daily rounds and charts documentation on any/all patients.
- In addition to the above, may also:
- First assisting surgeon in operating room as needed.
- Monitor and adjusts medications and dosages.
- Provides patient/family education from admission to discharge re: diet, medications, exercise, risk factors,follow-up visits, etc.
- Communicates daily with the Orthopedic Physicians during rounds and when a patient emergent / or change in patient medical status.
- Facilitates discharge of patients in a timely manner with the oversight of the physician
- Serves as role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service, behavioral standards of performance, by respecting the privacy and confidentiality of those we serve.
- Demonstrated knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPPA security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPPA privacy and security procedures.
- Follows established HIPPA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information.
- Maintain and protect members rights under the HIPPA privacy standards
- Assists in the Office to access patient physicals, pre-op, and post-op.
- Assists with the oversight of scheduling of patients for surgery

* Minimum of one-year hospital or practice experience; orthopedic experience * EMR experience (prefer EPIC) preferred |
