Overview

We are currently seeking a Pipeline Designer III with extensive experience in natural gas, liquids, and utility pipeline design projects. The ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of pipeline design experience and demonstrate advanced proficiency in developing alignment sheets, HDD drawings, permit exhibits, construction drawings, and design deliverables from project initiation through construction support.
This position requires a strong understanding of pipeline engineering principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including FERC and PHMSA regulations. The successful candidate will work independently with minimal supervision, provide technical guidance to junior designers, and coordinate closely with engineering, environmental, survey, GIS, and project management teams.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting all phases of pipeline project development, including routing studies, feasibility evaluations, permitting support, detailed design, construction documentation, and as-built development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of pipeline design and drafting deliverables for natural gas, liquids, and utility pipeline projects.
  • Prepare and review alignment sheets, crossing details, HDD profiles, permit exhibits, site plans, and construction drawings.
  • Interpret survey, GIS, LiDAR, environmental, and engineering data for incorporation into project deliverables.
  • Develop preliminary and final design packages with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, environmental permitting teams, survey crews, GIS specialists, and project managers.
  • Perform advanced quality control reviews and ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements.
  • Apply industry codes, client specifications, and regulatory requirements, including PHMSA and FERC guidelines.
  • Support constructability reviews and provide design support during construction activities.
  • Develop and maintain drafting standards, workflows, procedures, and design guidelines.
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to Designer I and Designer II personnel.
  • Assist with project planning, workload forecasting, and schedule development.
  • Participate in client meetings and technical discussions regarding project design and execution.
  • Support proposal development and resource planning activities when required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, GIS, or related technical discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 7+ years of pipeline design experience within the oil & gas, utility, or energy industries.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline routing, stationing, alignment sheet development, and construction documentation.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple project priorities.
  • Pipeline engineering consulting experience.
  • Proficiency with:
    • MicroStation CONNECT
    • ProjectWise
    • ArcGIS
    • Bluebeam
  • Experience supporting multi-state interstate pipeline projects.
  • Experience leading small teams and mentoring junior designers.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting requirements associated with pipeline projects.
  • Experience supporting projects through construction and as-built completion.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
