Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking to hire a Marketing Communications Assistant to join the Marketing Department. The Marketing Communications Assistant supports the marketing and business development team and assists lawyers by designing and producing high-impact, client- and recruit-facing communications (including advertisements, other visuals, podcasts, and videos) that elevate the Firm's brand. This role is multi-faceted and reflects a strong understanding of the markets and industries in which the Firm's clients operate, integrating skilled writing and graphic design to produce persuasive content and visuals informed by clients, competitors, and other leading market participants. The position requires an in-office presence but includes flexibility for some remote work.

The responsibilities of the Marketing Communications Assistant will include:

  • Assists with creating, formatting, and distributing marketing materials, including client alerts, pitch decks, experience placemats, advertisements, and other communications, in compliance with firm policies and brand standards.
  • Supports the promotion of Firm thought leadership via republication opportunities, including identifying author-friendly publication outlets, vetting author agreements, and promoting published content via various electronic channels.
  • Supports the Firm's website and video/social media channels by preparing, vetting, and posting narrative and related graphics.
  • Assists in the creation, production, and promotion of podcasts and videos.
  • Formats and proofreads presentations, pitch materials, advertisements, and other marketing-related content for accuracy and compliance with firm brand and style guidelines.
  • Conducts market analysis and competitive intelligence research to keep abreast of competitors and industry trends.
  • Updates and maintains marketing databases and repositories.
  • Provides additional administrative support to the Marketing team and collaborates with other departments on special projects and firm initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

  • Strong graphic design and layout fundamentals, with experience using InDesign and Adobe applications
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with AI-driven tools and marketing automation and analytics tools
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills, with a proactive, professional approach
  • Client-service oriented, with the ability to cultivate relationships across the Firm and understand the Firm's culture
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to execute in a detail-oriented work environment
  • Excellent multitasking, analytical, communication, and organizational skills, including the ability to take ideas from inception through delivery, draw conclusions from data, and perform fact-checking
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours when required to meet deadlines
  • Enthusiastic "can-do" approach; dependable team player able to work collaboratively with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside vendors/contacts, with integrity and confidentiality
  • Committed to following all Firm security protocols and maintaining information security
