Analyst (Distribution), Electric Control Centre

National Grid is hiring an Analyst (Outage Coordination) for our Distribution Electric Control Center in Liverpool, NY.

The Outage Coordination department is responsible for working with both internal and external stakeholders to plan and schedule routine maintenance and project work on the electric system across Upstate New York. Our department interacts extensively with field operations, project management, various engineering groups, and other utilities in the state to ensure the work portfolio is delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently. As the electric system becomes smarter and more complex, the need for coordinated, data-driven outage planning continues to grow. The Outage Coordination function plays a critical role in driving innovation to support the energy transition across New York State.

The Outage Coordination Analyst is responsible for the implementation of digital tools, the development of analytical metric reporting for the department, creation/compliance of training materials, maintenance of internal procedures and tracking of configuration change management. This role uses operational data, technology and analysis to determine system reliability impacts of projects and outages.

• Monitor and analyze operational performance, reliability indicators, outage trends, system events, and equipment performance.
• Develop tools for tracking of department performance metrics pertaining to Outage Coordination activities that include but are not limited to schedule adherence, reliability impacts, and resource optimization.
• Use data from systems such as TOA, EMS, SCADA, OMS, ADMS, DERMS, and AMI to identify risks, trends, and opportunities to improve reliability and outage plan details.
• Create and maintain dashboards for performance metric data to increase situational awareness within the department and for visibility to leadership.
• Assist the Outage Coordinators to ensure the notification of configuration changes has been submitted to the requisite departments, and that those changes have been implemented on time.
• Assist with digital projects as a result of Outage Coordination needs for new or enhanced tools and collaborate with the requisite IT departments throughout the project life cycle to ensure its successful delivery.
• Assist with the implementation and integration of artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and other digital advancements into Outage Coordination processes and workflows.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance the Outage Coordination capabilities of the department.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or STEM required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in electric system operations, control centers, or Outage Coordination preferred.
• Knowledge of substation and line construction, maintenance practices, and operational constraints preferred.
• Knowledge of EMS/ADMS/SCADA systems, digital tools, AI, and system operations concepts preferred.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams required.
• Experience developing reports, metrics, dashboards, and presentations using tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.
