Graphic Designer III (Center for Communications Program)

The Graphic Designer III will offer visual communication solutions for a range of strategic projects with responsibilities for creative design and overall creative concepts and production for the execution of projects. The Designer will play a lead role in collaboration with other creative staff and departmental stakeholders. The Designer will work collaboratively on creative projects and use strong design skills and an aesthetic that demonstrates an understanding of current and emerging trends.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Work independently and in cross-functional groups on a variety of strategic communications projects that require creative problem-solving and concepting.
• Serve in a lead design role on cross-functional teams to ensure that print and digital design work is of highest quality, consistent, and supports the goals of the project.
• Create a wide range of visual materials, e.g. logos, signage, annual reports, ads, publications, branded collateral, social media graphics, event promotions, image creation, and motion graphics.
• Direct photo shoots and illustration assignments.
• Partner with editors, writers, web and video professionals, and other stakeholders to develop holistic creative solutions.
• Serve as a brand ambassador and communicate and educate colleagues on creative and brand tools and assets.
• Work on multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and following schedules.
• Contribute to creative concept presentations to leadership and others.
• Ensure proper balance of form and function in all materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field.
• Four years of related experience and a portfolio.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/ graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

• Proficiency with a Mac using Adobe Creative Suite and emerging technologies.
• Website design experience.
• DSLR photography experience.
• Proficiency in Project Management Software (Smartsheet).
• Video production knowledge including After Effects and Adobe Premiere technical skills.
