Shop Administrative Technician II (Temporary Position)
Grade 08 (4822) SP#26-81-07

Recruitment: The State Highway Administration is currently recruiting for Shop Administrative Technician II positions located in District 1 Somerset and Worcester Counties. This is an Interview and Hire position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. This job announcement may be used for future vacancies throughout the State of Maryland. If you indicated veteran status on your application, you must submit your DD-214 along with the completed DTS-1 (application).

Nature of Work: The primary responsibility for this position is to provide administrative/clerical support to the Resident Maintenance Engineer, Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer, Tech Managers, Office Managers, Team Leaders, and other employees assigned to the maintenance facility. Responsible for answering incoming telephone calls and routing calls and visitors to appropriate staff. Manage all office functions and needs. Assist with accurately preparing bi-weekly reports, assist with entering team activity cards in Maximo Program, and assist with budget and expenditure tracking. Employees in the class do not supervise.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One (1) year of experience performing administrative support work and/or receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials and equipment in a storeroom, warehouse or other supply storage facility. May require the ability to type accurately at a speed of not less than twenty words per minute.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and use computer programs.
  • Ability to type correspondence, reports, and forms using a computer.
  • Ability to use computer software applications, such as word processing and database.
  • Ability to prepare various clerical and personnel related forms and reports.
  • Ability to prepare, process and maintain requisitions, invoices, and inventory records.

Licenses & Certifications

Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland is required.

Employees may be required to obtain SHA certification in maintenance shop storekeeping.
