| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Office of Research Communications serves the University by conveying the value of research conducted at Carolina to the people of North Carolina and the world. The office produces the
UNC Research website and Endeavors, the University's digital research magazine.
ORC supports the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (
OVCR)'s administrative offices and centers and institutes with communication and marketing services including strategic planning and guidance, content creation, graphic design, event planning, website administration, executive communications, and amplification of research news and events. |
| Position Summary |
The web producer will develop and maintain websites for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and its reporting units. They will manage client support by liaising with designated web content editors throughout the organization and produce original content that is professional, accessible, on-brand, and in compliance with governing laws and policies. Additionally, they will assist in the maintenance of research.unc.edu, a site with thousands of existing webpages, and other web sites in support of the
UNC research mission as assigned. They will perform data analytics and multi-platform site testing as necessary to ensure optimal user experience.
The employee will report to the
OVCR director of communications and be an embedded team member of the Office of Research Communications. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Master's or Bachelors and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |

HTML/
CSS/Javascript experience
* Familiar with Wordpress administration and content production using the Gutenberg/block editor
* Ability to analyze and utilize website performance metrics to consistently improve website performance
* Sensitivity to communications needs including awareness of editorial and design best practices
* Able to work within the constraints of a large organization subject to laws and policies regarding content accessibility, data stewardship, institutional voice, and other concerns
* Ability to improvise web production solutions to unanticipated business needs
* Experienced working in a team environment and able to respond and work well with colleagues from both technical and non-technical backgrounds |
