Survey Crew Chief

As a Survey Crew Chief for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll lead field survey activities supporting a variety of projects, including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary and topographic surveys, route surveys, and construction layout. Working under the responsible charge of a Registered Professional Surveyor, you'll perform field survey work both independently and alongside crew members while ensuring accurate and efficient data collection.

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the field crew, following established standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements. You'll utilize surveying technologies including Trimble GPS, total stations, scanners, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to collect accurate field data while maintaining detailed field notes, diagrams, and organized project files.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead field crews performing ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, route surveys, and construction layout
• Perform field survey activities independently and as part of a survey crew under the responsible charge of a Registered Professional Surveyor
• Operate Trimble GPS equipment, total stations, scanners, UAVs, and other surveying equipment to accurately collect field data
• Coordinate the efficient day-to-day operation of field crews and survey activities
• Maintain detailed and accurate field notes, diagrams, survey records, and data files
• Manage and organize collected field data for use by project teams
• Follow established standard operating procedures and applicable health and safety requirements
• Coordinate with surveyors and project teams to support accurate and timely project delivery

• At least 5 years of survey crew chief experience
• Skilled in the use of GPS devices, data collectors and/or Total Station
• Work requires independent judgment and initiative
• Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying
• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and instruments used in computer aided drafting
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications, plans, and regulations related to construction
• Knowledge of industry specific safe workplace principles and practices
• Albility to operate motorized equipment
• Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions
• Valid Driver's License
