IDEXX is growing rapidly, and our New Product Development team is seeking an Associate Scientist for the Assay Design & Development group.

Why this role matters:
The Scientist Associate will support the design, development, and characterization of new products and reagent processes, working alongside a scientifically diverse team with expertise in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, and protein expression and purification.

In this role:
* You will independently design, execute, and troubleshoot multi-variable laboratory experiments, and communicate findings to the team.
* You will perform laboratory testing, characterization, and validation of reagents and final products.
* You will analyze experimental data and provide recommendations based on scientific findings.
* You will prepare solutions and reagents, and maintain electronic lab notebooks, databases, and reports.
* You will prepare presentations and communicate results to technical and cross-functional teams, including R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing.
* You will support reagent scale-up, process improvements, investigations, and technology transfer activities.
* You will ensure all work is conducted in accordance with established quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

* You will design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments that accelerate our pipeline of new products and technologies, with a focus on PCR assay design and testing.

What You Need to Succeed:
* Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant industry or academic laboratory experience.
* Experience working with PCR reagents, oligonucleotides, plasmids, enzymes, or molecular diagnostic technologies is required.
* Hands-on experience with ELISA and other immunoassay techniques is preferred.
* Strong laboratory bench and instrumentation skills, with demonstrated analytical thinking and data interpretation ability.
* Ability to design and execute moderately complex experiments independently or with limited supervision.
* Aptitude for detail-oriented work, following SOPs, and learning new techniques.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting and discussing data at team meetings.
* Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
* Fast learner with a creative, initiative-driven approach to problem-solving and ownership of work.
* Adaptability and the ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines.
* Experience identifying process improvements and implementing scientific solutions is preferred.

* Prior immunoassay work is preferred.
* Some travel may be required.
