YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

Field Payroll Specialist 1 supports payroll processing activities for assigned field payrolls while learning payroll systems, regulations, and company procedures. This role focuses on accurate execution of standard payroll tasks under close guidance and supervision.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Assist with processing payroll and time records for assigned payrolls.

  • Review basic time entries for accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist with employees and payroll documentation for new hires, rehires, and terminations.

  • Support processing of payroll deductions and benefits setup as directed.

  • Respond to routine employee payroll questions and escalate complex issues.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with company policies.

  • Follow payroll procedures, deadlines, and compliance requirements.

  • Identify and implement resolutions for basic payroll inquiries and issues.

  • Audit time records from various locations, make needed adjustments, and ensure compliance.

  • Review per diems to determine their taxability and setup correctly on payroll.

  • Review employees' pay rates for compliance with union contracts and labor laws.

  • Assist employees with collective bargaining agreement-related questions.

  • Enter updates to employee information in required systems.

  • Monitor and resolve basic tickets submitted by admins and employees.

  • Ensure new hires, rehires, and terminated employees' documents updated correctly.

  • Maintain and save updated employees' documents properly and timely.

  • Assist with making sure all employees are setup correctly in payroll and other applications.

  • Be able to back up any member of the team when necessary.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Basic understanding of payroll and timekeeping concepts.

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Ability to follow documented procedures and instructions.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 0 to 2 years of payroll, timekeeping, human resources, or administrative experience.

  • Exposure to payroll systems preferred.

TRAVEL:
  • Up to 10%

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Pay Range

$29.20-$38.50 Hourly

The pay range for this role is what we expect to pay for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Candidate's pay can vary based on location, job-related experience, skills, and education.
