Lead System Specialist - Email Platform & Consent Infrastructure

The Messaging Platform team ensures Salesforce connects with millions of customers and prospects at global scale with unmatched reliability. We manage the operational lifecycle of consent infrastructure, compliance enforcement, audience data systems, and platform modernization. Our mission is to maintain and scale the foundation underlying every outbound marketing email Salesforce sends, rebuilding these critical systems on Salesforce Data Cloud. We prioritize system stability, process optimization, and execution excellence to ensure high-stakes marketing communications reach the right people at the right time.

This Role

We are looking for a Lead System Specialist to lead the delivery and execution of this portfolio. You will drive operational excellence across a set of interconnected platform systems: a next-generation email platform built natively on Salesforce Data Cloud, global subscriber preference infrastructure, and compliance enforcement engines. While you will influence product strategy, your primary focus is on running, scaling, and optimizing the messaging data infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of data systems, compliance, and enterprise delivery, with a direct impact on Salesforce's operational efficiency and pipeline growth.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the operational roadmap and execution for interdependent platform systems, ensuring high availability and performance across email infrastructure, consent management, and analytics pipelines.

  • Lead process optimization for data modeling and identity resolution, translating complex technical architecture into scalable operational workflows for engineering, compliance, and marketing stakeholders.

  • Ensure system stability and compliance execution by managing global platform configurations and driving cross-functional alignment between legal, data, and regional marketing teams.

  • Own incident response and escalation for platform reliability events, including compliance-driven incidents, able to drive fast, accurate resolution with incomplete information under time and legal pressure.

  • Operationalize legal and compliance requirements into automated enforcement cycles, managing complex global changes with speed and precision to mitigate multi-market legal exposure.

  • Manage and evolve Salesforce's preference center to adopt different product and content options as they emerge.

  • Partner with analytics and engineering teams to maintain and evolve data extract pipelines, audience health monitoring, and reporting infrastructure.

  • Own global suppression strategy across regional business units, including suppression data extension logic, frequency governance, new BU onboarding standards, and self-serve exclusion processes.

  • Build and manage platform intake and support operations l define escalation paths, triage frameworks, and self-serve documentation to create structured support for Data Cloud, consent, and email platform questions.

  • Represent the platform and its roadmap to senior leadership, translating complex technical and operational dependencies into clear strategic narratives.

Required Skills/Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in platform operations, technical program management, or systems engineering, with a focus on running complex, compliance-sensitive data infrastructure at scale.

  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and process improvement within enterprise marketing technology, customer data platforms, or high-volume messaging systems.

  • Expertise in managing cross-functional delivery, with the ability to navigate technical and legal dependencies to ensure stable, compliant system performance.

  • Systems-level thinker: consent flows, suppression logic, segment activation pipelines, compliance enforcement cycles, and multi-org data dependencies are the kind of problems you enjoy untangling.

  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end support operations or triage functions for a shared internal platform , building structure and scalability where formal processes don't yet exist.

Even Better If...

  • Experience with Marketing Cloud Engagement or comparable enterprise email platforms, including preference management, subscriber consent models, and compliance infrastructure.

  • Experience navigating M&A data and consent integration - working across legal, engineering, and operations to bring acquired company data into an enterprise marketing infrastructure.

  • Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, including how unified customer profiles are structured, how audiences are activated into downstream channels, and how to diagnose data quality issues at the model level.

  • Background on an internal platform team where marketing is your primary customer familiarity with the practical realities of being Customer 0 for high-volume, compliance-driven email programs and the operational rigor that demands.

  • Background working in an internal operations or DevOps-style platform team, with a deep understanding of the practical realities of maintaining high-volume, compliance-driven email programs.
