The Role:

The Odom Corporation is seeking a Sales Relief representative to support sales, merchandising, and customer service activities throughout the assigned territory. This position provides coverage for vacation routes, assists sales teams in achieving company and supplier objectives, and helps ensure accounts receive consistent, high-quality service.

The Sales Relief representative develops relationships with retail customers, executes merchandising standards, promotes company brands, and supports product availability and sales growth. This role requires strong organizational skills, independent decision-making, and a commitment to customer service excellence.

What You'll Do:

Sales & Account Development

  • Support sales teams by providing vacation and route coverage within assigned territories
  • Develop knowledge of company brands and competitive products to support sales growth
  • Conduct sales and follow-up calls to customers and prospects
  • Present products, answer customer questions, overcome objections, and secure orders
  • Utilize pricing tools and promotions to maximize account performance
  • Assist with securing displays, promotions, and merchandising opportunities

Merchandising & Product Presentation

  • Execute company merchandising standards at retail accounts
  • Build, replenish, and maintain displays to maximize product visibility
  • Utilize point-of-sale materials and promotional features effectively
  • Support shelf management, cold box execution, and display placement initiatives
  • Ensure products are properly stocked, rotated, faced, and presented

Customer Service & Account Maintenance

  • Maintain positive relationships with retail customers
  • Ensure products are stocked at appropriate inventory levels
  • Rotate, clean, and organize products to maintain quality standards
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and service needs
  • Represent The Odom Corporation professionally in all customer interactions


Route Coverage & Operational Support

  • Provide sales route coverage during vacations, absences, and business needs
  • Maintain accurate order information and sales documentation
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Operate company equipment safely, including pallet jacks and hand carts
  • Assist with additional sales support activities as assigned


Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a safe work environment by following company safety policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve service, merchandising execution, and sales performance
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer satisfaction

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Proof of automobile insurance (SR-22 not accepted)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications



  • One (1) to two (2) years of sales, merchandising, customer service, distribution, or related experience
  • Beverage sales or merchandising experience
  • Knowledge of the local market and retail environment
  • Experience in beverage distribution, consumer packaged goods, or wholesale distribution
  • Experience building customer relationships and driving sales results

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, and move throughout the workday
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally push, pull, or move up to 250 pounds using pallet jacks, hand carts, or other equipment
  • Regular use of hands, arms, and shoulders to handle products and merchandising materials
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in retail stores, customer locations, warehouse facilities, and other field environments
  • Regular exposure to varying temperatures and conditions while servicing customer accounts
  • Moderate noise levels are typical, with occasional exposure to higher noise levels in retail, warehouse, or outdoor environments
  • Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory is required
