340B Analyst - RWJBarnabas Health

At RWJBarnabas Health, the 340B Program Specialist plays a critical role in patient care and operational excellence. Operating with a high level of independence, they perform complex regulatory compliance reviews and 340B program utilization management according to strict medical, legal, and federal pharmaceutical standards. They are responsible for exercising professional judgment during internal audits, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, delivering system-specific operational support, and maintaining seamless workflow collaboration within the multidisciplinary pharmacy department.

A typical day for a 340B Analyst may include:

  • Prepares internal audit schedules of 340B covered entities, clearly explains the process, and coordinates performance reporting to leadership
  • Operates third-party applications (TPA), split-billing software, computers, and data analysis systems necessary to ensure a safe and accurate reporting and tracking procedure
  • Assist pharmacy directors and system managers during external compliance audits and manufacturer reviews by compiling, calculating, or monitoring dispensation data
  • Sets up contract pharmacy data streams and files following federal HRSA guidelines, handles manufacturer pricing updates, and reviews agreements to assist with supply chain management
  • Calibrates, maintains, and adjusts 340B software settings, and reports system variances, data anomalies, or compliance problems immediately to leadership
  • Monitors and calls out inventory and financial performance metrics, alerting the pharmacy management team immediately to any changes in program conditions
  • Utilizes wholesale purchasing and data management systems to enter accurately identified and verified records of contract configurations, and retrieves old financial reports when necessary
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of pharmacy procurement protocols including Apexus pricing, PHS pricing, alternative distribution models, and regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborates professionally in a corporate or health system environment, working in close cooperation with hospital personnel, external auditors, and third-party vendors
  • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and the ability to assume multi-task duties and function under significant time pressures

To be considered for this 340B Analyst opportunity:

  • Graduate with a High School Diploma or equivalent credential
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, decisive judgment, collaboration, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Minimum of 2 years of dedicated 340B Program compliance and auditing experience within a health system
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically utilizing advanced Excel functions for report generation and data analysis
  • Strong functional knowledge of acute care pharmacy procurement, hospital supply chain operations, and drug replenishment models
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research regulations and interpret pending legislation, court cases, and HRSA policy updates
  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent level of healthcare administration experience is preferred
  • Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status or equivalent professional registration is preferred
  • Completed Apexus 340B University coursework or an Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate is preferred
