JOB SUMMARY
The ASU
Mechanical Reliability Trainer is responsible for developing, executing, and
managing comprehensive mechanical training programs that support the technical
development of mechanical technicians, performance technicians, and reliability
personnel across Nippon Sanso Matheson's Bulk Operations organization. This
role maintains and manages structured progression schedules, ensuring employees
advance through defined competency levels in alignment with operational and
reliability expectations. The trainer also serves as the subject matter expert
for all mechanical condition monitoring programs, providing technical
leadership, program oversight, and continuous improvement to strengthen
mechanical reliability across Nippon Sanso Matheson's ASU fleet.
Essential
Functions
Mechanical
Training Program Development & Delivery
Develop, update, and deliver mechanical training curricula covering rotating equipment, static equipment, compressors, pumps, cryogenic machinery, and ASU specific mechanical systems.
Conduct classroom, hands on, and field based training for mechanical and performance technicians.
Create training materials, assessments, certification pathways, and competency evaluations.
Ensure training content reflects current industry standards, OEM guidance, and NSM best practices.
Progression Program Management
Maintain and manage progression schedules for mechanical technicians and performance technicians.
Track individual development plans, training milestones, and competency achievements.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to support employee growth.
Collaborate with operations and reliability leadership to ensure progression expectations align with business needs.
Mechanical Condition Monitoring Expertise
Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical condition monitoring programs.
Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and best practices for mechanical condition monitoring.
Support troubleshooting, failure investigations, and root cause analysis (RCA).
Support reliability improvement initiatives across ASU sites.
Program Administration & Compliance
Maintain accurate training records, documentation, and certification files.
Ensure training programs comply with internal policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate training schedules with operations, engineering, and reliability teams.
Evaluate training effectiveness and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Education

including vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication analysis, and
alignment/balancing is Required
5+ years of
experience developing or delivering technical training is Required
5+ years of
experience performing or supporting condition monitoring programs is Preferred
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Technical
Knowledge
Strong understanding of ASU mechanical systems, including compressors, expanders, pumps, heat exchangers, and cryogenic equipment.
Knowledge of rotating equipment fundamentals, mechanical integrity, and reliability engineering principles.
Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and methodologies (CBM, RCM, FMEA).
Understanding of lubrication systems, alignment techniques, and vibration fundamentals.
Skills
Ability to design and deliver effective technical training for diverse skill levels.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation abilities.
Skilled in curriculum development, competency assessment, and progression planning.

DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

conditions (e.g. cold box valves, filling trailers).
* Be exposed to high, precarious
places (e.g. cold box, repair work)
* Be exposed to high noise levels
(e.g. Plant rounds, maintenance)
Working

required to work from a home location, which must be conducive to performing
the role and duties, including virtual/video meetings.
Working

a clean driving record and pass background check and drug test.
Travel
Requirements
Estimated
25% Ability to travel and required to provide weekend and evening support as
needed.
Pay Range: $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
