Our Natural Gas Business Analyst will analyze and document existing processes and procedures within the natural gas business unit. You will propose enhancements to the business stakeholders with process designs that leverage relevant applications and technology. In this role you will work closely with the Business Analyst Manager, Development Team and stakeholders to implement process improvements that will remove existing process redundancies and inefficiencies, as well as utilize advanced knowledge of the business to interpret user requirements, needs, and translate those requirements into actionable user stories and production issues. Our ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills, can prioritize workload, and can work independently as well as with a team. If you can work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and are able to relate to customers, outside contacts, and fellow employees then this is the job for you!



  • Using a nuanced understanding of the natural gas business model and competencies, audit existing processes and procedures for inefficiencies, lack of documentation, poor controls, or hindered data clarity/visibility.
  • Identify the relevant stakeholders applicable to a particular process and relevant process owners among users and work to empower those users to influence positive changes in their existing processes.
  • Apply business knowledge in documentation of "current state" workflows in a manner defined by the Natural Gas BA Manager and validate the workflows with both the BA Manager and the applicable stakeholders and process owners.
  • Analyze existing process workflows, design and develop improved process workflows that are both congruent with institutional business knowledge and that use relevant contemporary applications and technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers to gain an understanding of how our applications function from the ground up and take necessary steps to ensure that those applications are consistent with fundamental business knowledge.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings and to validate business requirements prior to presenting them to the relevant IT teams.
  • Create business functional scripts that will strenuously test all application additions or enhancements. Work with the user community in performing these tests noting any issues back to the appropriate technical team.
  • Work with both the user community and the technical team in the design and implementation of necessary conversion procedures to ensure a clean and timely transition to newly developed or enhanced systems.
  • Work with the user community to ensure that all team members are adequately trained in the use of all implemented systems within this position's area of responsibility.
  • Develop and oversee all implementation plans for new or enhanced systems within this position's area of responsibility.
  • Support the user community in the use of all systems within the area of responsibility. Any technical issues found as a part of this process will be clearly and promptly identified to the relevant IT or internal group for resolution.
  • Participate in all merger/acquisition activities ensuring that information needs that result from this process will be met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Work independently and as a part of a group leveraging relevant technology and strategies to achieve objective results on projects and initiatives, as assigned.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualified candidates for this role will have the following:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (business disciplines or information systems are a plus but not required)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in energy strongly-preferred - but not required - with experience in a natural gas and/or electric operations-oriented role being preferred.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 applications required particular emphasis on Excel experience
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Solid understanding of business analysis techniques/tools and project management methodologies.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workload and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • *Bonus* If you have experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, experience working with SQL-based application backends or experience with data-oriented languages such as SQL or Python is a strong plus.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk.
  • Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasional reaching and stretching.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying light objects (usually up to 10 pounds).
  • Moving within the office environment, including visits to different departments or meeting rooms.
  • Prolonged periods of computer monitor work, reading documents, and detailed work.
  • Frequent typing and use of office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly over the phone, video conferencing and in person.
