Job Description

SUMMARY:

The original FACES for the Future Health Scholars program was established in 2000 at Children's Hospital of Oakland; in 2011 FACES programs moved under the fiscal sponsorship of Public Health Institute, which allowed the creation of FACES for the Future Coalition (www.facesforthefuture.org). The Coalition, now national, both runs its own programs in California and New Mexico and supports affiliate members in San Diego and Colorado. Innovative and health careers focused, there are three main FACES programs: Health Scholars, Public Health Youth Corps, and the Summer Medical Academy. All FACES programs serve public high school students interested in public, medical, behavioral and global health careers. The Coalition's work also includes new program and curriculum development, technical assistance consulting, evaluation, marketing and communications, and fund development.

The FACES for the Future Coalition is looking for a Program Coordinator for the FACES program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The FACES program will be working with students and teachers to create work-based learning experiences to build capacity at partner school sites. This person will be primarily responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of daily operations. This includes host advisory committee meetings, implementation and supervision of clinical internship placements and rotations, academic support and mentoring, and coordination of the wellness program for students. The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all students meet the program expectations regarding training, performance, rules and behavior. The Program Coordinator will work to guarantee that program materials are current and relevant, that operations run in a smooth and effective manner, and that open and regular communication exists with all program partners and stakeholders including health care professionals, health agency administration, school administration, teachers, students and families.
