Job Description:
The QC Technician I operates the QC Central Reference and Sample Storage (CRSS) area and is responsible for assisting with (or performing) various QC functions within the Quality Control group.
- Operate and maintain the QC Central Reference and Sample Storage (CRSS) area.
- Maintain the calibration program for laboratory equipment for which QC is responsible (pipets, UV/VIS
- Spectrophotometers, etc.).
- Order and scrap reagents in SAP to support laboratory operations.
- Coordinate the QC related paperwork flow by copying, distributing, and filing analysis reports, SOPs, and
- other written documents.
- Maintain data entry into established department databases utilized for tracking and status reports.
- Compose and revise SOPs under the direction of the Supervisor.
- Adhere to the pertinent aspects of plant safety programs and in keeping with GMP's or other regulations.
- Participate in collecting and assembling data required for reviews and reports.
- Perform special assignments as directed by supervisor.
- Utilizes SAP to order materials in an effort to support laboratory operations.
- Performs routine inventory audits of materials associated with the CRSS area.
- Participate in CRSS related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Assist in laboratory instrumentation backup processes and verifications.
- Lead and coordinate CRSS related projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Tech I
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field preferred.
- Laboratory experience desired.
- Basic knowledge of analytical methods and equipment.
- Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Mechanical aptitude desired.
- The specialized knowledge required would be acquired through education and/or work experience. The incumbent must also be able to communicate the findings and results from their work effectively in both written and oral form.
- Basic exchange of information.
- Self-motivated with good communication and human relation skills, and must be able to effectively schedule, prioritize and organize their time.
- Must also demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting supporting project teams as a Quality Unit representative.
- Under supervisory direction, the QC Technician I is expected to independently troubleshoot and resolve routine CRSS-related laboratory issues by reviewing procedures, standards, techniques, and equipment. Sound judgment is required.
- Is expected to identify and recommend improvements to CRSS processes and procedural deficiencies.
- Supports daily CRSS operations and overall laboratory activities. Maintaining proper sample storage conditions is critical to supporting product testing, data integrity, and product release.
- The role performs analytical, diagnostic, and operational activities that directly impact laboratory outcomes.
Tech II
- Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field required. Two years of university credits in the trade sciences is equivalent.
- 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience required (w/ degree).
- Basic knowledge of analytical methods and equipment.
- Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Mechanical aptitude desired.
- Specialized knowledge required would be acquired through education and/or work experience.
