Under supervision, assist with maintaining algal cultures and supporting laboratory experiments focused on the growth and bromoform production of the red seaweed Asparagopsis taxiformis. Perform routine laboratory procedures, including sterile techniques, seawater sterilization, microscopy, imaging, sample isolation, and culture maintenance. Monitor culture health, document contamination, and implement established mitigation procedures. Assist with maintaining a living algal "seed bank", collecting environmental and physiological data, performing routine measurements, and conducting basic statistical analyses. Support bromoform production using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), maintain accurate laboratory records, and assist with preparing research summaries and data visualizations. Work collaboratively with postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and laboratory staff, and guide laboratory volunteers on routine laboratory procedures and culture maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $62,891 - $75,022 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $30.12 - $35.93 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
