What to Expect
Tesla is focused on building a world of abundance, and we are seeking a Supply Chain Manager to own North America sourcing for express and parcel logistics and customs brokerage. You will build and execute the category strategy, run bid events across the region, and manage the commercial relationships with parcel carriers, international express providers, and licensed customs brokers that support Tesla's North American factories (Fremont, Austin, Reno, Buffalo) and service network across the US, Canada, and Mexico. This is a high-ownership role for someone who can take a category from strategy through contracting and day-to-day performance management, and who is comfortable presenting recommendations to a large group of stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Category Ownership (NA Express, Parcel & Customs Brokerage): Develop and execute the North America category strategy; own should-cost models, zone/weight and DIM-weight economics, surcharge architecture, supplier segmentation, and consolidation opportunities across US, Canada and Mexico; present strategy, savings, and risk updates to stakeholders; track NA/cross-border capacity, GRI and peak surcharge cycles, fuel indices, DIM-factor changes, de minimis and customs policy shifts, and brokerage fee structures to inform bid timing and contract terms
- Service Network Support: Partner with Logistics Operations on express and parcel flows for factories (Fremont, Austin, Reno, Buffalo) and the service network (GDCs, RDCs, service centers, mobile service); help set pickup-window, cut off, and scan expectations; maintain the carrier/broker qualification standard and onboarding playbook for the region
- Sourcing & Bid Management: Run RFIs/RFPs/RFQs for US domestic parcel, intra-Canada, intra-Mexico, cross-border (US-MX,US-CA), international express, and licensed customs brokerage; build rate matrices covering base rates, incentives, dimensional weight, accessorial (residential, DAS/extended DAS, remote, adult signature, peak/demand, address correction), fuel, and minimums; recommended awards on total landed cost, transit performance, and clearance reliability
- Cross-Border Execution & Customs Brokerage: Manage US-Mexico and US-Canada parcel/express commercial programs with Trade & Customs; source and manage licensed customs brokers and related services (entry filing, ISF, AES, bond, drawback support, post-entry amendments); embed IMMEX, CTPAT/CTPAT, FAST, CARM, ACE/ABI, de minimis (section 321), IOR/EOR, and country-of-origin documentation into awards and SOWs

- Cost Optimization, Risk Mitigation & Supplier Performance: Deliver measurable annual savings via bid rotations, incentive renegotiation, surcharge control, right mode conversions (express deferred parcel LTL/freight when justified), packaging/DIM reduction, and reduced expedites/address-correction leakage; strengthen resiliency through dual-sourcing, peak capacity commitments, and contingency routing; own KPIs (on-time pickup/delivery, scan integrity, first scan time, claims ration, billing accuracy, tender acceptance, clearance cycle time, entry accuracy, duty/tax variance); lead QBRs; drive escalations, dispute, overcharge recovery and corrective plans
- Cross Functional Partnership & Team Contribution: Work with Plant Logistics, Material Planning, Service Parts, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, Trade & Customs, and Logistics Operations; represent the category in S&OP, peak-season readiness, and new-plant/new-market launches; coach analysts and partners on category strategy, parcel pricing, brokerage commercials, and negotiation; serve as day-to-day category SME and first escalation point
What You'll Bring

- Ability to influence cross-functional partners without direct authority, manage competing priorities, and present clear recommendations to Director-level stakeholders; experience mentoring analysts or junior buyers is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of NA parcel and express pricing mechanics (zone/weight, DIM weight, incentives, minimums, accessorial, fuel, peak/demand surcharges, residential and delivery area adjustments); working knowledge of international express products (time-definite, deferred, next-flight-out) and their interface with customs clearance; existing relationships across the NA parcel/express carrier base (integrators, regionals, and/or cross-border specialists) and licensed customs brokers preferred
