Agile Coach

We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to partner with Delivery Management leadership in developing organizational delivery capability and advancing Agile ways of working across Digital Solutions.

The Agile Coach serves as a trusted advisor, coach, mentor, trainer, and transformation leader, helping teams, programs, and leaders continuously improve delivery practices while building organizational capability. This role combines enterprise Agile coaching with practical delivery leadership experience and requires the ability to step into key delivery roles - primarily Release Train Engineer (RTE) - to model leading practices, mentor practitioners through real-world execution, and build sustainable organizational capability.

The ideal candidate balances structure with pragmatism, demonstrates strong situational leadership, and understands how to adapt Agile frameworks to meet organizational needs while maintaining alignment to Lean-Agile principles.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Agile Coaching & Organizational Transformation

  • Coach Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, delivery teams, and leaders on Agile, Lean, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and modern delivery practices.
  • Guide organizational Agile transformations while adapting practices to the unique needs of individual portfolios.
  • Conduct maturity assessments across Portfolio, Program and Team Layers to identify strengths, improvement opportunities, and coaching priorities that advance organizational delivery capability
  • Develop high-performing, self-organizing teams through individual and group coaching.
  • Mentor leaders in adopting Agile leadership behaviors and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Delivery Management leadership to evolve Agile delivery capabilities across the organization.

Delivery Leadership & Role Enablement

  • Step into delivery leadership roles - primarily Release Train Engineer - to demonstrate leading practices, stabilize delivery, mentor practitioners, and accelerate capability development.
  • Facilitate and coach Program Increment (PI) Planning, ART Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and other large-scale planning and coordination events.
  • Model effective facilitation, dependency management, risk management, stakeholder alignment, and cross-team coordination.
  • Coach practitioners through observation, feedback, and hands-on collaboration to enable long-term success.

Portfolio, Program & Team Coaching

  • Operate effectively across Portfolio, Program, and Team delivery layers.
  • Help establish clear operating models, governance, planning cadences, and decision-making practices.
  • Improve alignment between strategy, roadmaps, execution, and value delivery.
  • Support implementation of scalable delivery models while recognizing the unique needs of each portfolio.

Training & Capability Development

  • Design and deliver role-based training for Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and leaders.
  • Develop onboarding materials, playbooks, coaching guides, role expectations, and reusable capability assets.
  • Facilitate workshops covering Agile practices, Lean thinking, value stream optimization, flow, metrics, OKRs, and continuous improvement.
  • Build Communities of Practice that encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

Continuous Improvement & Delivery Excellence

  • Assess organizational delivery maturity and recommend practical improvement opportunities.
  • Help teams improve predictability, planning effectiveness, flow, dependency management, and delivery outcomes.
  • Establish, leverage, and coach teams and leaders on meaningful metrics appropriate to each delivery layer to promote data-informed decision making, organizational transparency, and continuous improvement while avoiding metric-driven behaviors.
  • Identify systemic impediments and partner with leadership to remove organizational barriers.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Agile standards, delivery guidance, governance models, and maturity assessments.

Executive Partnership & Organizational Influence

  • Partners closely with the Delivery Management Capability Leader to prioritize coaching engagements and capability development.
  • Partner with executives, portfolio leaders, Product Delivery Leaders, Technical Delivery Leaders, and delivery leaders to shape transformation roadmaps.
  • Influence without authority across multiple stakeholder groups and organizational boundaries.
  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership regarding organizational progress, risks, opportunities, and improvement recommendations.
  • Apply systems thinking to balance enterprise consistency with portfolio-specific flexibility and contextual adaptation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience leading Agile delivery within complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience as both an Agile Coach and Release Train Engineer (or equivalent program-level Agile leadership role).
  • Experience coaching multiple teams, programs, and organizational leaders simultaneously.
  • Strong facilitation skills across executive, portfolio, program, and team levels.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting Agile transformations.
  • Strong understanding of Lean, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, flow, systems thinking, and organizational change management.
  • Experience developing and delivering role-based Agile training.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with Agile lifecycle management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification.
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.
  • Scrum Alliance or Scrum.org coaching certifications.
  • Experience supporting enterprise technology organizations with multiple portfolios or value streams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $120,000 - $205,200

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
