The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for a Fabrication Welder Technician at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, our fabrication team supports a team of people who design, manufacture, and test innovative automotive solutions. Founded in 1957, the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide. NATC operates 6,600 acres of test courses, discrete test events, environmental chambers, shops, instrumentation facilities and blast and ballistic test areas to create an unparalleled testing area available to our staff to innovate and solve our customer's problems. Position Summary: NATC is seeking a talented Fabrication Technician to weld, fabricate, build, assemble, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair parts, products, vehicles, and equipment. The Fabrication Technician interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, specifications, and sketches to determine fabrication requirements and accurately complete assigned work. The position performs MIG, TIG, and stick welding, as applicable, and uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, industrial machinery, and equipment. The successful candidate will be able to identify errors or deficiencies, determine appropriate corrective actions, and communicate issues through proper procedures and channels. This position requires the ability to plan and properly lay out work, maintain accurate dimensions and tolerances, and produce quality workmanship while working closely with Engineering and Test personnel. Essential Functions:
- Weld, fabricate, assemble, install, modify, and repair parts, vehicles, equipment, and components.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Measure, lay out, cut, fit, form, and weld materials to required dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate and safely maintain hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, measuring instruments, and fabrication machinery.
- Perform thermal cutting, grinding, and other metalworking processes.
- Troubleshoot defects and equipment issues and make appropriate repairs or corrections.
- Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, fit, function, and compliance with specifications.
- Work with Engineering, Test Technicians, Mechanics, and Customers to support vehicle and equipment development and testing.
- Maintain accurate records, a clean work area, and compliance with safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Perform tests in the field.

- Operate company vehicles in support of test operations.
- Assist Maintenance shops with minor maintenance and pay-loading vehicles.
Pay: $22 - $30
Position Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and 3-4 years of progressively responsible welding/fabrication experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of structural and sheet-metal fabrication and repair.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols.
- Knowledge of welding processes, materials, setup, and weld parameters.
- Ability to safely operate fabrication tools, equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to estimate labor hours and materials.
- Valid Nevada driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
- Basic computer skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to work effectively with others.
- Professional and personable demeanor with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of welding/fabrication experience and applicable certifications.
- Vehicle, equipment, structural, or custom fabrication experience.
- Experience with aluminum, specialty alloys, or exotic metals.
- Engineering, testing, prototype, automotive, manufacturing, or defense experience.
- Additional welding certifications or technical training.
Working Environment and Safety Statement: Work is performed on-site in Silver Springs, Nevada, primarily in fabrication and shop environments, with occasional work outdoors and in field/test environments. The position may involve:
- Working around operating vehicles, test vehicles, heavy equipment, machinery, and other industrial equipment.
- Exposure to hot, cold, dusty, dirty, oily, and noisy conditions.
- Exposure to welding fumes, smoke, odors, dust, and other industrial hazards.
- Working in field and test environments and on varied terrain.
- Safely operating grinders, saws, welding equipment, and other fabrication machinery.
- Safely handling compressed gases and other materials used in welding and fabrication.
- Properly using required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, respiratory protection, hearing protection, eye protection, and other PPE as required.
- Following established hot-work, fire prevention, lockout/tagout, and other applicable safety procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area and complying with company and OSHA safety requirements.
